I'm 65 years old, and I never knew how to install a ceiling fan. We have 4 old ones here and none of them work. You made it look so easy, that even someone like me just might be able to install one, or two, or three or even all four. The lights on them work, but the fans don't. I'll more than likely be buying 4 of the Hunter Fans, because I can very easily copy what you've done step by step, pausing the video, as I go along. Thanks "Dad" If you want, I can keep you abreast of my progress.

Growing up in a broken family, I'd only seen my father occasionally and that didn't last long since he died when I was just around 10 years old. Now that I am 22, I just realized that not being around a father made me question everything around me (since I am the only man in our family, though the youngest at that) and I realize that I do not really know anything on how to be a responsible man, because I was never thought to be a man. Stumbling here at your channel had made me learn more about the world that I don't know. So thank you, sir, for your content. It's more than a video for me, it's a life lesson.

I was looking for this exact fan installation yesterday because the instructions were not dummed down for a newbie like me. Now I found you one day later, I did exactly what you did but my old fan didn't have a connector box in the ceiling; it was just a wire coming thru a hole. went up the attic and the old fan was supported by a 2x4. I was undecided about adding a box since everything look/felt strong but, I read somewhere that no box is a no-no due to the fire hazard soo... I had to do it the right way; bought a ceiling brace and box kit, drilled hole on the ceiling inserted the brace tighten it, then attached the box and now I feel proud of what I did.

But, I'm just sitting here crying - so I'm not ready yet. But I'm really glad these videos are here for me when I am ready

My father died when I was around 6 and I'm 13 now, me and my mother have had to do many things by ourselves and I always watch Rob's channel to figure out how to do things since my mother is growing older, and needs me to do more. But without this man I wouldn't have been able to do half the stuff I'm able to. Plus my father was a terrible drug addict, and he'd beat my mom and then take me away from her when I was around 3. He would also threaten suicide. I look up to Rob and he has helped me out alot, I think this man needs more credit than he gets already

Add to "cut the power": may want an inexpensive VOM (Volt-OhmMeter) and test, make sure you flipped the right circuit breaker and power is actually off. I like putting labels next to breakers about what they feed. A label maker works well. If it's possible that someone will turn the breaker back on while you are working on it, or maybe as a habit, put a wire nut or electrical tape on the bare end of the black (hot) wire to insulate it.

Love your videos and what you're doing, but in this case you really need to let the kids know that when you replace a ceiling light fixture with a fan you need a box that is rated to carry the fan's weight. In many cases, you will need to cut out that old box and replace it with an "old work" style fan brace to carry the weight. Especially if the old box is loose, which is surprisingly often the case. Otherwise, the weight of the new fan can pull that box right off the joists and down onto your loved ones.
