@@kennethgray3794 You’re definitely not alone! At certain points of my build, life got in the way, and I couldn’t get anything done… what I decided to do was just pick one tiny project (like painting a bracket or something stupid), just to keep it moving. It helped a lot to get me through those lulls.

@@LakeAndLodgeGarage thanks brother. Love that homemade booth. Whats the dimensions and how is it going keeping trash and dirt out of the paint?
@LakeAndLodgeGarage
@LakeAndLodgeGarage 4 ай бұрын
@@intheshoptv the booth is 12' wide by 36' deep. only because that was the size of that side bay. if I had a blank canvas I would do like 16' by 28' . that would be pretty optimal for what I do. as far as trash goes its pretty good. the majority of the trash I get seems to come off my hose from dragging it around so there is that. its a good setup for what I do, and cost effective. I really do like having a separate area for painting. saves a lot of overspray mess. in our old race shop I used to have a curtain on a ceiling track that I would pull around the area I painted in and that helped keep crap off the tools but the floor still caught hell.

@@LakeAndLodgeGarage thats awesome, and what a great asset. We’re thinking of moving and Im already planning the shop build. A booth is a must. Im thinking 30x60 shop with 4 bays, last one being a booth. Was planning on 14’ wide, but I want to cut the 30’ bay down by having a paint storage/mixing room at the end. Do you think 20’ is too short for a booth? That gives a large 10’ x 14’ mixing/storage room. I guess I could make it smaller if the paint bay isn’t long enough.
@LakeAndLodgeGarage
@LakeAndLodgeGarage 4 ай бұрын
@@intheshoptv I think 14 is workable. I am doing it fine in 12 so I would love 2 more feet but it works. as for the 20 long that seems a bit tight. measure a few of your projects and add 8 feet to the longest one. a full size chevy truck would not fit in a 20' bay for example. but it really just comes down to what you want to paint. it does not matter how big you build a shop as I found out it will always be too small. You always need a little more. I have so much stuff in my shop now I think it may sink into the earth! I will say in my idea of an ideal shop I would have 2 lifts. a 4 post like yours and a 10k 2 post asymmetrical like mine. having one of each makes a lot of sense. there is stuff I need to do on a 2 post and stuff I would really like to have a 4 post for. I just don't have the room. if I had it to do over again I would make that happen.

Looks really clean! Do they make a kit for the factory drum brakes. I’d be interested in moving the master cylinder
@intheshoptv
@intheshoptv 4 ай бұрын
@@jasonhagan3170 they have a “universal kit” that isn’t very expensive. Or to be honest, What I’d do in your case is: buy the firewall bracket itself from them. And then purchase whichever master and booster you want separately. That way you’ll have more control over bore size and booster size + color and style. Kits will limit you, plus give you a proportioning valve which is just a waste of money for you with drum brakes - why pay extra for something you’re going to toss, ya know?

Did you let Pol know about the bracket it might be something they could change in there directions ? Great content for others to learn from keep up the good work !

With having a double firewall with a gap between the two layers are you not worried that is will distort or is there a bushing between the two? Nice work.
@intheshoptv
@intheshoptv 4 ай бұрын
@@heyjunior Thank you! no because of the ribbed or stamped design of the original firewall. There isn’t really any gap, it only appears that way due to the location of the recessed ribs. Great question!

I had the same question about the gap between the 2 firewall pieces. It looks like in the video, there's a gap on one side , but not the other. I was concerned that it would pulled or pinch the 2 pieces together on that particular side. Thanks for your answer.
