Learn how to install our Chip Decoder for Epson P800 printers. The chip decoder connects directly to the printer's motherboard, bypassing the cartridge chips altogether. Simply press a button on the decoder to reset all 9 ink levels, at any time!

If I am buying from Japan SC-PX3V (P800 Japan version), Is it Asia -Pacfic version ? Do I need this decoder?

I believe that Japan is considered a region apart by Epson. I do not know if a decoder will be required, or will even work in this printer since it's technically a different model than P800. We have no experience at all dealing in the Japanese market, I'm afraid. My recommendation if you want to refill is to get the P800 printer in China, that way the refillable cartridges with ARC chips are guaranteed to work. Or, you can check with a Japanese supplier of refillable cartridge products, who will know how to refill the SC-PX3V.

hi i have a p800 i purchased in Australia do i need this decoder?

That's a good question. I do not know how the P800's in Australia are programmed, we have few customers there and no customers on the P800. My advice would be to try with refillable cartridges. If the refillable cartridges reset once empty, then you're good. But if they do not, we'll try changing the chip. If it works, then great. If that also fails, then the decoder will be required.

After this unit has reached its 30 time life span. Can a chip resetter be used with a refillable cartridge? If a printer is New and never setup, and a aftermarket refill tank is used on its first setup will there ever be a need to use a decoder or resetter?

Once the unit reaches its 30 reset lifespan, there will be no choice but to go back to OEM Epson cartridge on that printer. There is nothing else to do. Keep in mind 30 sets is a significant amount of ink consumption and the printhead will be close to the end of its useful life. To answer your other question, installing aftermarket cartridges on the first setup makes no difference. After the first use of the cartridges, the chip decoder will be required. All this is applicable to printers from the USA and Canada only. These printers have an innate restriction that requires this modification as ordinary chip resetters or single-use chips do not work after the 1st use.

@@InkOwldotcom Thank you for the reply. One for detail to clarify. This product can use chip 30 times. How about a chip resetter? Can you use a chip resetter more than 30 times or will the printer know to blacklist the cartridge ID after a few reset of original cartridge?

After 30 uses (29 reboots), the chip decoder can no longer be used on that printer. But is the printer still working or can you buy another chip? or just stop working? regards

The printer will still function with OEM Epson cartridges if you reverse the installation of the decoder, but you cannot install a new decoder. That being said, after 30 uses, you will have saved $5000-$10000 compared to using OEM Epson ink, more than enough savings to justify buying another printer, if needed.

The chip decoder works worldwide. However, if you have an Asian P800, you can simply purchase refillable cartridges with ARC chips, no need to buy this decoder to refill your printer.

It's where the printer was bought that determines it, simply. I don't know of any straightforward way to check just using the serial number. What country was your printer bought from?

Oh okay. Yeah, if you're buying in Indonesia, you will definitely have the Asia-Pacific version of the printer. As such, you will be able to use and re-use refill products without needing this decoder.
