What did you do to avoid the break rotor to touch the break pads? Think I heard you say at minute 16.30 "take off the adapter" but not sure what adapter you are referring to.. I have a 21" wheel in the front and same fox 40... Awesome video, thanks!
@ratcamaro
@ratcamaro 3 жыл бұрын
The stock set up has a brake adapter to move the brake caliper outward. With the Fox 40 the adapter is not needed. You bolt the caliper directly to the fork.

One of the better install videos out there, much appreciated for doing it! Question regarding the 5mm boot spacer, did you have to get longer bolts or the ones that came with the spacer long enough?.. pls lmk, in the process of installing. much mahalos!!

This fork is a 2016 model with the longer stanchions so it's ok but good catch. A lot of the guys don't know that the newer 40s have shorter stanchions and the lowers will hit the lower triple clamp before bottom out.

My spacers in my sur ron wheel keep falling off man haha is the suppose to be something to hold them on ??? I’ve put them on the wheel and fitted the wheel in the forks but there’s a slight wobble ???? Fast reply please lads 🙏🙏🙏

If there's a slight wobble and everything is tight you may have worn wheel bearings. Hard to diagnose without looking at it though.

@ratcamaro
@ratcamaro 3 жыл бұрын
Are you turning it the right way? It’s reverse thread so you turn the locknut clockwise to loosen. If you are and it’s still stuck you’ll have to drill it out
@organicoceans4459
@organicoceans4459 3 жыл бұрын
@@ratcamaro yes, im turning it righty loosly. But no budge. You think Drilling it out will work? It is soft aluminum. At least now I wont feel bad about completely destroying it. As long as it comes out. Thanks
@ratcamaro
@ratcamaro 3 жыл бұрын
@@organicoceans4459 Yeah I was gonna drill this one out but decided to grind a slot in it and tap it off with a chisel and that worked. When drilling it you might get lucky and have the lock nut unscrew since it's clockwise to loosen. Good luck!

Sorry I just saw your comment now. You need a 5mm rotor adapter to make the stock wheel fit on a boost fork: www.jensonusa.com/Mrp-Boost-DH-Brake-Rotor-Spacer-Kit

In Fox's online data sheets it says the maximum length from "top of the crown" to "top of the upper tube" should not exceed 137.5mm (~5.413inches), otherwise the seals will bump into the crown when bottoming out. With the headtube height plus this weird spacer looking thing mine is actually about 170mm and I lose some fork travel as well. Can't install FOX's mud guard too. I have 2021 model, is there nothing you can do about it?

@@ratcamaro Thanks! Maybe you know how much room will I gain after installing this? Risse's website states .9'' of drop which I think is not enough to install within Fox's specs, giving now I have almost 170mm (~6.7'') and the required maximum is 137.5mm (~5.413'') and even less (132mm) if I want to use mud guard. I guess I will at least have full travel though, but something with larger drop would be way more beneficial. Quick googling haven't given me much, guess I have to dig deeper, will update if I find the solution.

@@pavelmeshkov5433 The older Fox 40 stanchions like the ones on this 2016 model are longer. If you can find older stanchions along with installing the drop upper crown that would be the ultimate solution!

Why did you waste so much money on a bridged MTB fork for an E Moto. Lmao more money than sense? I’ll run a YZ 85 front end or the Fast Ace any day over than $1400 MTB crap. Lol First hard crash and you’ll know why MX bikes don’t have a bridge. It allows for movement rather than bending and breaking items.
