The strut is the best option available. Once that becomes compromised , I would recommend replacing the panel at that point.

Great video. My door doesn’t have this bracket, the J arm is watched to a plate at the top of the door, which ripped off today. Could I install this instead?

Yes you can use this bracket instead of that plate. You should be able to remove that plate and replace it with the operator bracket. Let me know if you have any issues with it. Thanks

What is the name of the tool you're using to unscrew? What is the name of those... screws? First time homeowner trying to do some repairs myself 😅

The screws are self tappers and I’m using a drill with a 7/16 magnetic nut driver to loosen and tighten the self tappers to the door. Congrats on the new home and best of luck 🤞 it’s a learning process but it’s worth it. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for watching 🙏

Is there any need to reattach the galvanized piece that was loose? Is it critical in operation of the door if you install this operating bracket?

You can put the bracket right over the center stile even if it’s loose, so long as the operator bracket your installing secures to the door panel itself. I’ve put it on top of many loose stiles and never had an issue. Hope that helps, and thank you for reaching out. 🙏
