Thanks, watched your video because my emergency heat was not working. After watching I realized that the white wire was put into y2 instead of w2 (done by installer). Switch the white wire to w2 and the system is working beautifully, which is a good thing because it's going to get to 20 again tonight - looking forward to being warm. Thanks again...

I like using Honeywell units because they have fairly common looks with most of the units. I always tell people to also make sure to turn off the power with anything related to the furnace etc. Safety is important. Leveling the units are very important especially if you have the old mercury style. I've always run 6 wire thermostat wire solid color with stripes, easier to color code and in case someone gets a newer furnace or air-conditioning and heat pump. Great unit and easy set up instructions on the key pad. Great job Josh 🔨👍🏻

My last house I had a Honeywell unit similar to this, except it was analog buttons. I use it for years with zero problems. I definitely recommend them! Yes, I think it is very important not to power the thermostat when you were trying to wire it. Safety and it could ruin the unit. It sounds like we both think the same way, David! Thank you and I appreciate you taking your time to comment. Take care!

About 3 years ago I had to replace an analog mercury HVAC control on the wall that was installed in 1983 with a digital Honeywell one. Videos such as this are priceless. And like you suggested, I too took a picture before removing any wires just in case the new digital one didn't work. It did. I had to strip the wires so they could be attached in the correct slots. Would I have attempted this w/out youtube absolutely not.

Looked at this thing as well as the one that can work with Ring. I ended up going with the T5 7-day programmable, solid product.

Them DIY big box stores sell that crappy retail version of thermostats. This one in particular isn’t worth $50. You have to punch the buttons with your fist for it to recognize. But if you get a “non retail” version, that Honeywell pro 9000 is nice! The screen resolution and touch responsiveness is like todays iPhone 👍

I've watched a lot of your videos and they are very helpful so thank you. I have a quick question though about selecting system type, how do you know which type you have? Did you select heat pump because that home has a furnace?

I installed it perfectly like this but my Red wire was RC. Hopefully changing to R will turn my heat blower! You’re the only one that show same 6 wire configuration: orange is o/b and my white is w2/E aux

How does it get the outside temperature? off the internet?
@TheExcellentLaborer Жыл бұрын
Yes, I assume it does because I don’t have anything that is going to the outside from the thermostat.

Hello. How complicated is installation going to be by adding the C wire? My house is old and does not have that cable. Also, will it be setup besides thermostat? - is there a separate video for complete setup? Thank you

My electric was off for hours due to a storm, when my new furnace & thermostat was installed last October ,and setup the installer didn’t set it to memory and I was screwed, the thermostat asked me questions I couldn’t answer. The AC kicks on, after cooling it run’s several minutes longer without cooling 🤷 what did I do wrong? TH8321 WF1001, I have no manual. Installer can’t get here till July 29. Can you direct me some where for help? TY

WHAT IS THE CHANGEOVER VALVE AND HOW DO I KNOW WHICH I HAVE? HEATING OR COOLING?
@markrobinson78754 күн бұрын
Change over valves only apply to heat pumps. If you have a heat pump and you set the thermostat to the 1st option and you set it to heat and the ac comes on then you know you chose the wrong option. The first option set the flow to reverse the flow of refrigerant making your condenser (outside unit) an AC unit and taking the heat from outside and sends it to the evaporator coil inside your home making it hot, thus heat. If you have a regular ac unit (non heat pump) then it doesn't have a change over valve and you don't use the "brown wire" (sure looks orange to me).

This is prob a dumb question. However, I have 2 thermostats, upstairs and downstairs. Do I need to purchase 2 of these?🤔

Interesting it wants you to heat your home no higher than 69 degrees. Big brother is everywhere now.
@TheExcellentLaborer Жыл бұрын
Hey Joe! Yes, Wi-Fi and Internet has taken over everything. It is amazing!
@Poorboyforever15 күн бұрын
Your only setting it to 69 for verification purposes only. After set up,you can put it on 80 if your rich.
