Nice detailed and thoughtful video. Everything I have seen always shows the zone valve failing and being replaced but it was nice to see a vid showing the ball valve failing and what it looked like. 👍

Alex you should do a vidio on how to replace a white Rodgers zone valve with a honeywell zone valve. You teach very well and got your point across. Good luck with any future vidios

Hello I have 60 apartments with these valves. Only 2 in 6 years so far. They should last 8 to 10 years. If you have a few valves it would not hurt to have replacement parts for whenever they go bad. Thanks for your comment.

I have a zone valve passing water when it should be closed. I bought a new valve set and first tried changing just the actuator. I tried that for a couple of weeks but it was still passing water. So I replaced the valve fully, so new valve and the new actuator. It is still passing water. When the zone call for heat is on the motor starts and opens the valve and the boiler activates as it should. When I turn it off the spring closes the valve and the boiler shuts off. I can see that the actuator mechanism has moved back to about where it should be for closed. But if I turn on another zone then water still passes through the faulty one. Even with a brand new valve. I have double checked that the flow direction as labelled on the valve is correct with regards to the flow outlet from the boiler, plus it's the same as all the others anyway. I don't understand what's wrong. Is my new valve faulty too? Do I need to return it and buy a different one? The only difference with the other zone valves that work fine is that they are mounted vertically and the faulty one is horizontal. That shouldn't be a problem should it?

I just had one stick open last week... so annoying. Every time my upstairs heat would turn on, downstairs would get heat too. The gear teeth stripped so I had to replace the whole assembly.

Hi mate mine is stuck in middle I can not move it to auto can’t move to manual what does that mean
@alexthehandyman34943 жыл бұрын
Hello mate, When is not calling for heat. there should be some resistance when pushing from auto to on. If it has power 24 volts it should be very easy to move. If yours does not move its going to be stuck either open or close if is stuck in the midle then is stuck in the middle. (partial open, or partial close) LOL Bottom line: you should be able to move it. If it does not move then more than likely is broken. Listen for flow or touch pipe after valve. Let me know how it goes.

Instead of cutting the pipe why didn't you just replace the motor and ball valve?
@alexthehandyman34944 жыл бұрын
Hello Forsakensouls. I suggested that to the owner. the owner thought that when they soldered the valve originally the left a ton of soldering blocking the ball valve . last year he changed the motor, so he didn't want to deal with that. Thanks for your comment.
