I'm trying to make the change which I find very useful since a week ago I was left stranded after leaving the lights on and my battery died :( I connected the wires as you indicated, then with a multimeter I saw what voltage I had at the ends of the wires. 1: With lights off and starter switch off: 0V 2: With lights off and starter switch on: -12v 3: With lights on and starter switch on: 0v 4: with lights on and starter switch off: 12V This means that in condition 2, I would have a (reversed) voltage on the buzzer. Am I doing something wrong? Thank you

No sir, that's the idea of the buzzer circuit, it's only one way voltage, kind of like led lights polarity. So it will only work on the reverse voltage of circuit, which shows you that +12 on multimeter, whilist the -12 is power from the other side, which will not trigger it when car is on and lights are off.

Thanks man for your reply. I understand your point, but I don't know if the buzzer I'm using ( I recycled from somewhere) has an internal circuit for reverse current protection. I will add a diode to the buzzer and this should be a safer choice. I will let you know if this works.
