Nice video, very detailed and good advice. One tip, cleaning up silicone off your hands and/or excess that squeezes out, such as in this case, use a paper towel and rubbing alcohol, comes right off - nice and clean job!

Great video. Helped me install my Terrova! The one step of tapping to leave the puck in place was difficult. Instead, I added an additional piece of tape to the bottom of the puck. Then I used spray adhesive and sprayed the tape on the puck and the tape on the deck. I let it sit for five minutes and then removed the trolling motor so that I could find and mark where I needed to drill the holes for the puck. I think this would be very beneficial to do even with two people it’s hard to get the puck to stay in position when removing the trolling motor. Make sure you do not wrap the tape around the edges of the puck. The tolerance/clearance between the puck and the mount attached to the trolling motor is very tight, if you have tape in between, the puck will not separate easily. I hope this helps others.

This seem to be the best and most comprehensive installation guide yet. Thank you !

So far trying to install the bow mount 60” RT Terrova has been a royal pain in the ass !!! The puck has to be too far forward to the point that one screw hole isn’t usable. This seems to be the case on several brand boats. Now I’m having to find someone to make me a custom plate in order to properly install a $2000 trolling motor. Minn Kota needs to be more vested in providing solutions to these issues with installing their products.

They give a template in the quick release box. It's the under side of packaging.

Thank you for the video, guys. I am going to try installing my terrova that came in the mail today soon. I am nervous about drilling the mounting plate holes. What battery manufacturer do you recommend, and what type of battery. Luithum seems to be the way to go, but they seem to be expensive.

Marine seal on the bottom side of the lip washers and nuts?

I was going to say the exact same thing, when the boat is at run the wave cutting will force water from the bottom up, plus as seen while drilling there’s a space between the top cap and the bottom lip.

My boat dealer installed this motor with only screws stuffed with zip ties, it was 1 screw away from being ripped off and into the water when I hit my first big wave on Anchor lock. I was so pissed finding out that it was a sketchy install on their part after watching this.

If i already have this same setup on my beavertail mosquito, am i able to install the mount that allows the trolling motor to slide back with the same screw holes that the puck has? again, I have this exact same set up and my trolling motor hits the bow roller when unloading regardless of how shallow or deep into the water I back into the water. I know i can just take the trolling motor off each time I launch but that can become a pain. Any advise would help. Thanks in advance.

I notice you didn’t install the quick release pin while installing the plate to the motor. I had to go back and install it after everything

So you said hooking up power and you’re done. What about the I-pilot hook up?? What is that capped wire for??

Mark, If you are speaking about the wire coming out of the base of the motor by the power wires, that is for a foot pedal. Thank you for contacting MinnKota.

loved the part where the wires went from glued circle ends to just bare wire with no explanation if to cut.

wouldn't you want to seal bottom and top? Also, why not run a rectangle backing plate powder coated white for increased surface area to minimize the PSI to the bottom of the rolled deck. running into waves will really torque those small washers and crack the gelcoat.

Hello, For best practices installing a trolling motor on a particular model of boat, you should consult the boat dealer and/or boat manufacturer. Thank you

Minn Kota should provide screws that AREN'T fully threaded. Smooth under-head for about an inch or so would be better. I would replace them before install. Also, as I haven't seen the electrical connector they provide, I hope the wire isn't secured at the end of a spinning screw! It will splay and not use all the conductors in the wire! That is bad news. If that is the case, WIRE FERRULES should be used.
