In this video, we bring to you: How to Install a Modular Ceiling in a Shipping Container House 2018. Shipping containers are made of corten steel. Steel is a good conductor of heat, therefore; to live in a shipping container home, you need good design and effective insulation. Insulation will not only help regulate temperature inside your contain home but also help prevent condensation. Apart from the walls, the other critical place to insulate in a shipping container house is a container roof. Before you insulate the roof you will need to install a ceiling under the roof. When installing a ceiling in a shipping container house, you can either have a frame-out celling or use a Modular ceiling. Modular ceiling would be an appropriate ceiling type to use with high cube containers. High cube containers are a foot taller than standard containers. They provide you with an extra foot of ceiling height creating extra room for ceiling insulation without compromising the headroom of the habitable space. The Advantages of Modular Ceiling over a framed our ceiling include:
1. Since its modular, it can be assembled offsite and brought in for installation.
2. The ceiling can be easily removed and replaced for repairs compared to a fixed ceiling.
3. It allows flexible installation and easier maintenance of lighting fixtures.
4. It is cheaper than using a framed out ceiling. Installing wooden battens on a steel structure of shipping containers can be a quite a challenge since structure has to remain watertight throughout.
5. It’s quicker and easy to install. Once the ceiling rail is in place, the ceiling modules seamlessly slide in under the container roof.
6. Modular ceilings have less waste compared to fixed ceilings. They can be assembled in a controlled factory environment hence minimizing onsite waste.
