Now 10 years old and still helping people. Just did my old seat yesterday, and with the help of this video and one other I got it right the first time, looks brand new!

How much pressure did you use?
@bobkindle4297 Жыл бұрын
Through the miracle of video editing he makes it look a lot of it easier than it really is. Be prepared for tons of wrinkles and having to pull the staples out over and over again and realigning it. Give yourself a good 2 hours of downtime

Lay out the new cover and hit it with a heat gun for a bit. Makes it much easier to stretch to avoid wrinkles

Throw it in the drier for 15 minutes so it'll loosen it up, and you'll avoid wrinkles as well!

How much pressure did you use? I have a similar pneumatic staple gun, and I tried sinking staples into the seat pan at a range of pressures up to 120 psi, but they still won't go in completely.
@rmatvmc10 жыл бұрын
camoronL We are in the 120psi range as well but it seemed to be a bit more pressure than we needed. Around 90psi seems like it would be about the desired range but it will depend on the seat pan and the staples you are using. I would make sure the gun is firmly pressed against the cover and pan before shooting the staple. Doing this will give the staple a better shot of getting farther into the plastic. If you get a few staples that haven't seated all the way you can simply tap them in the rest of the way with a small hammer.

I have the dimensions of my seat and some pictures, is there someone on your site that can help me with this purchase?
@rmatvmc10 жыл бұрын
Tony Stevens Each seat will be specific to itself so it would be better if you could order a cover that is specific to your machine. What machine are you working on?

Rocky Mountain ATV MC I have an X-Treme 5000Li Moped. www.monstermotorscooter.com/xm-5000li.html That is why my moped is not in your system.
@rmatvmc10 жыл бұрын
Tony Stevens Without having the dimensions for each seat cover it's going to be hard to find one that will fit your seat. You might just be better off finding a local upholstery shop and asking them to recover it. The only other option would be to compare your seat to any available atv seats you have access to and finding dimensions that way. Sorry we couldn't be of more assistance.

how in the hell can you use a manual gun the staples dont evan scratch the plastic under the cover
@rmatvmc8 жыл бұрын
+Chris Bradford I've seen it done. You have to assist the staple sometimes by pushing them down in a little deeper. I've used a common screwdriver to press them in do it, but it's doable. Sometimes the average guy doesn't have an air compressor to run a neumatic staple gun, or in some cases doesn't have a neumatic gun, so ya got to make due with the manual one :). A lot more work though!

What would happen if you use an arrow electric stapler with 3/8” 10mm staples? Would it still work just fine?
@BadgerScrub5 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you've already done it by now, but at long as the staples are going in then you're going to be fine.

what pressure do you have your staple gun set to
@rmatvmc4 жыл бұрын
Around 90psi is what our gun is designed to run at. I would recommend you go off what pressure your staple gun is designed to run at. It will either say on the gun or in the instructions that were included.

I guess there isn't any magical secret to this then is there? It sure is a pain to get all those wrinkles out.
@rmatvmc10 жыл бұрын
Jon Moore It's just going to depend on the seat and the material of the seat cover. The seat shown in this video should be more towards the more difficult seats to re-cover. Some people will heat the cover up to allow it to move and stretch a little easier but it just takes time and patience...
@yonmoore10 жыл бұрын

why cant you just. cover the old cover with the new one ?? ty.
@rmatvmc2 жыл бұрын
You could do that but a lot of seat covers fit very tight and without removing the old one, you may have a hard time getting the new one to fit correctly. Also, removing the old cover will give you a chance to inspect the seat foam and base for any damage.
