Love the vacuum idea for getting the water out. Idk why I didn’t think of this, I always see videos showing the liquid lock. But that vacuum idea sold me I’m doing that on my next toilet call for sure

A small grinder makes quick work of corroded, stuck bowl to floor bolts. A reciprocal saw for going between tank and bowl to cut seized tank bolts. I routinely replace stop valves that are over 25 years old. Those tools for angle stops are great. "The Last Drop" suction tool is good too for water removal, avoids having to bleach the stench out of the vacuum canister, but vacuuming is faster. Twenty and sixteen inch connection hoses work best in most situations to avoid kinking. Going from standard rim height to comfort height may require replacement of the typical twelve inch hose. Check for 3/8 or 1/2 inch hose inlet size. Yes, I am a toilet technician with too much free time today. 😆

I was glad to see you put the wax on the flange instead of the bowl like most directions say. And really proud when I saw you grease up that tank seal. I thought I was the only one. And the tool you threaded onto the angle stop is awesome. Maybe just a half inch pipe with a coupling would do.

Ya, he does good work. I handle building maintenance, residential and retail. Was a diesel, hydraulic, electric mech, on lifts trucks 15 yrs, and learned doing things right, pays off in the end, a long time ago. I can see using silicone grease on the seal, but petroleum would eat it up over time. I'm pretty sure he uses blue pipe dope. I tried watching it a few times, amd seen him use blue on other seals. Ex. Sink drain neck seal. I bounch between silicone grease and blue dope, depending on situation. I see reasons for and against both, on certain things. Also, I do enough S/o valves, I gotta get me the 2 tools he uses. I may be wrong, but think threads are different on a coupler. The solid feed pipe with fitting is a great idea, but may be too soft, it'll bend while tightening. Not many do things right anymore. Everyday I see something done wrong, I can only shake my head and wonder... Also, wonder how everyone feels about the sani seal, over a wax ring. I been using them for over 10 years. They hold up great, flex, so you dont loose seal if toilet moves, which they all do eventually, and can be tough can be reset if needed. I love them, haven had an issue, and probably installed well over 100, over the last 10 or so years. I do replace, if toilet has to come off, In a year or so. But, at gas stations, where I'm constantly pulling toilet to rod, they're great. I can get by 4 to 6 months, just reusing.

I’ve never seen a plumber even attempt to stick the wax on the toilet and then set it. Common sense tells you it’s easier and more sensible to just place the wax down on the flange first. I’m sure plenty of people that don’t know better struggle with that step since that’s what the box tells you to do

@thinkaboutitall8691

Yes, link to tools please. Can probably find them with Google, but this is easier. Lol How you feel about the sani seal, over wax ring. ? I've been using them about 10 years now. Must have well over 100 installed, over the years, and never had an issue. Even if toilet moves, with they will do, with certain, abusive customers.., I've never had one leak. And, handling building maintenance for residential, landlords, and retail, mainly gas stations, they're great, when I'm constantly pulling toilets to rod, when there's no clean out. I can reuse them 2,3 times. I do replace them, if they look dicey... always carry 2 in my van, along with some supply lines and #29 s/o valves Brass Craft #29.. 1/4 turn, 90°, 1/2 comp. To 3/8 out. Also, I tend to use longer, stainless braided feed lines. I like the longer ones, because I make a loop, reducing stress on the seals. And, I don't have to carry a huge assortment of lines. A 16 or 20 in line, will work anywhere, with a loop in it. I've been complemented and put down for doing so, but guess it just comes down to personal preference. It's two fold.... a longer line has more area to fail, yet a short one, with too much lateral pressure will destroy the seals, stress both the valve and filler. Sometimes it's a 45 min ride to store, so what are my options ? Carry a full assortment, carry something for any situation, or carry one that will work on all ? As far as plumbing/sewer goes... I always carry 2 sani seals, 5/16 bolt kit, a thick and thin wax, just in case, #29 S/O valves, feed lines for toilet and sink, and assortment of green or red seals, for drains. Try to carry trap/pipe kits, but van can inky hold so much. Especially, when I handle more than plumbing. I do everything.. From AC switch to toilet flange, roof to foundation. I won't do full roofs, and won't do concrete. But, in an emergency, I will get you back up and functioning. I even do heating and air, but won't touch refrigerant, don't have license, or money to carry supplies around. Bad part of it, I have to carry so many tools and supplies. Good part, I'm always busy, and customers love me. If I had 10 guys, that I could trust, and had tools and a car, I'd be a millionaire, just taking calls, and running the business.. Hell, if I could find 1 halfway decent guy, that just showed up, I'd be happy. Nobody wants to work anymore. Even fewer know what they're doing, or the slightest ability to learn. It's getting hopeless out there, as far as decent help, or steady worker. Keep up the great work my friend. There's a few, but not many guys left, that know what they're doing.
