In this video we show you how to install a PoE (Power over Ethernet) surveillance / security camera!
This video specifically details a vandal dome camera, but the concepts are the same for a mini bullet, or any other IP camera.

Wonderful instruction! Can you add following clips regarding how to get the wire into the garage for the power?
@PureMediaSystems
@PureMediaSystems 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback! There is not a need for additional power. These cameras are receive power and data over a single ethernet cable (PoE or Power Over Ethernet). In this case the NVR has a PoE switch built in, so we just rand the ethernet cable from the camera to the NVR.

Question is what do you do in houses that are two story. Most two story soffits around here usually run right in front of rooms and you can’t even crawl through them if you even have attic access. I’ve yet to see somebody actually show how they run wire they just say oh just run the wire into the attic. Ya obviously but not every home is one floor with an attic that covers the entire top of the house where you can drop down through any wall. Am I right or am I missing something lol?
@PureMediaSystems
@PureMediaSystems Жыл бұрын
That is a good question. Every home is different. Sometimes we are able to get through the soffit to the attic space with fiber rods. Sometimes we have to use magnets with the rods. Sometimes we have to cut access holes on the inside to feed cable through. Sometimes we have to run cable around the exterior. Installing cameras on two story homes can be very difficult.

Nice. I forgot there is. Templates. I have to install wall anchors on my outdoor roof. Just using a screw doesnt hold it. The cameras I got from reolink came with screws and wall anchors.
@PureMediaSystems

Hi Dom! Yes, the templates are very useful! The anchors are needed a lot of the time, however depending on the construction material, they are not always necessary.

What if part of the soffit is a bird box that protrudes out separately beneath the original frame base. However, that is where I wish to mount then run to the attic? Also, how do you perform a mount above the front door entrance with no wires showing and access the attic?

Why do you drill the 3 holes instead of using screws directly?
@PureMediaSystems
@PureMediaSystems 2 жыл бұрын
Pre-drilling pilot holes removes material from wood to make room for the screw. This makes it easier to drive the screw into the wood, and the wood is less likely to split or crack when the screw is inserted.
@Handleme23
@Handleme23 2 жыл бұрын
@@PureMediaSystems doesn’t that mean the screw won’t fully thread into the wood?
@PureMediaSystems
@PureMediaSystems 2 жыл бұрын
@@Handleme23 No, you only drill the hole to the size of the core of the screw, or slightly smaller, not the entire screw including threads.
@MatthewBryde

@@PureMediaSystems There was wood involved? It looks like your drill bit only went through the thin soffit. What's the soffit made of? I assumed it was fibre cement, but is it made of wood panelling (I'm from Australia where it is made from fibre cement)?

Cool, but can you show us the hard part? My sofflet does not easily link up to the attic.
@PureMediaSystems
@PureMediaSystems 3 жыл бұрын
Every home is framed differently, however the soffit should connect to an attic as that is typically where the air inlets are for attic ventilation (you will notice the perforated soffit of this home). In this video we showed you that we use fiber rods with magnets. If it is difficult to reach the rod inside the attic, we can use another rod and magnet to link to the original rod and pull it through.

Thank you for your feedback! We use a few different brands depending on the application. In this particular video we used GNS. If we are installing an ELAN control system, we like to use the ELAN cameras because of how well the integrate and the advanced analytics that are built into the cameras for ELAN. Otherwise we like to use Luma or GNS. We are authorized dealers for all of these products, so if you are interested give us a call and we can ship the products directly to you! 972-905-0556.

@PureMediaSystems

POE is Power over Ethernet. This allows power and data over a single cable. A keystone is a modular wall plate system that allows you to use various different types of connectors in a wall plate, i.e. ethernet, coax, speaker, etc.
