It's more of a guy thing than a female thing. Guys are more left brained than women. Yes many women have left brained abilities (such as myself). I think it's related to the amount of testosterone in the brain and/or body. Scientists say there's no real proof that there's a "left and right brain" for knowledge but it's evidentally clear that some people are very mechanical and many are not.. because those people are crafty and musical and stuff like that.

You are definitely correct the Compustar Manual seems a bit confusing, with Positive and negatives on the wiring diagram but, I'm going to order one for my 2001 Nissan Sentra and I too shall make a video. I know this is an old video but, my only recommendation would be to put a fuse at the battery on your blue wire so that if anything grounded out along the way it would pop the fuse before it melted the wire and possibly start a fire. IE -- from rubbing or anything like that.

Very nice video. Well done. I just pulled an 8 year old Bulldog unit out that's been collecting dust. As an engineer, I'm trying to test this out before I install it. I don't know the theory of operation but it my mind the constant power should be the power source that the bulldog supplies to send the starter relay 12v as well as powers the accessories, such as the blower motor, and also powers the parking lights. I have it on my bench and can't get 12V out of anything. The only thing I have connected is constant 12v and ground. If anyone has a clue, let me know. I'm about to dump it as faulty. Maybe my head is faulty.
@jacksonkeithley7 Жыл бұрын
In a basic sense, the Remote Starter Module simply tells the car to turn on, so most of the power is handled through the factory system itself. The exceptions are for parking lights (used to show the status of the RS when you attempt to start with the remote) and possibly door locks (if your RS is equipped to lock and unlock the vehicle). The other items you listed are all powered through various accessory channels within the vehicle. Most connections on the RS are safety things, such as the hood pin, trunk latch, and typically the door latches

@krispittman1110 Жыл бұрын
Also should have used larger wire for the blue. If you have 2 wires with potentially 30A going through connected to 1 wire, that wire should be able to handle 60+ amps. I don't think that blue wire could..

@ 11:21, I cannot understand why you would put non-conductive grease on a ground connection inside the car. A clean, tight, bare metal connection is what is needed to provide a reliable ground. You do know dielectric grease is mad to be non-conductive, right?
@TheCousinDan Жыл бұрын
Dielectric grease is not conductive, but it is designed to maintain a good connection by isolating the contact points from corrosion/oxidation. Adding dielectric grease to these kinds of connections has been done since nearly the beginning of humans using electricity.

Lol the battery run for a remote starter... I'm glad you solder your stuff though. So many I see come into our shop with not a lick of solder. The worst is when people drill through the firewall and just run a power wire for an Amp through it no grommet and connect it fuseless to the battery.

I saw a truck catch on fire from something like this... big 2 gauge wire just fed through the firewall, the guy who installed it had the fuse inside the cab... not between the battery and the firewall.
@kona7023 жыл бұрын
@@Oddman1980 novice here. Why does the fuse placement make a difference? If it's in the circuit won't it blow no matter what? Is it because if the fuse breaks, then the circuit could still be shorted out inside the engine compartment because the fuse break happened in the cab? (I may have started understanding as I was typing this LOL)
@Oddman19803 жыл бұрын
@@kona702 If the fuse is on the power wire, and the power wire shorts out, the fuse blows. If the fuse is on the ground wire, and the power wire shorts out... then the power wire is still hot and will continue to short to ground until it burns in two. If the fuse is in the cab, and the wire shorts to the hole cut in the firewall... then effectively there isn't a fuse.
@kona7023 жыл бұрын
@@Oddman1980 Thanks! As I was typing my question, that's exactly what I started thinking. The fuse might protect the equipment from a short, but the wire is still shorted out from the power to the cab/firewall because the fuse is farther down the line. Got it!

Hi. Thank you the video was very informative. Quick questions. You must use a key to unlock the steering wheel. What happens if the key is chipped? As in in there is two chips now. If you don't use the remote start is the chip bypassed anyway? Must you use one key if you do and another if you don't? Contused.
@TheCousinDan3 жыл бұрын
The system will work with multiple keys present. Rental car companies do this a lot for some unknown reason. They put both factory keys on the same keychain and it works fine. You do this and you will always bypass the immobilizer, but another chipped key won't hurt anything
@91litesho2 жыл бұрын
Once a bypass is installed, especially the type that he used which is universal and has an actual chipped key within it from that point it doesn't make a difference whether you have another chipped key in the ignition or have a key made at your local home Depot or Lowe's or whatever. Any key at that point will work to unlock your steering wheel and be able to drive the vehicle whether chipped or not because the "installed" chipped key will always be sending a signal to the lock cylinder, unless the module goes bad or the transponding ring moves away from the ignition enough to cause an interruption
