I just recently bought an 05’ Z71 . I’m doing a lot of the same tinkering and cleaning now. I had to address the suspension first , shocks , bushings , upper control arms. Easy trucks to work on for the most part....except for the seized upper control arm bolts😡. Definitely got some ideas from this series 👍

Shrink tubing, you need that or the insulating tape that melts into itself. That means you slide the tube on one side and shrink it with heat when you've finished soldering. No wrapping with electrical tape, it always comes off. Wire nuts are for in house wiring only.
@lsxmatt4 жыл бұрын
I have some but I didn’t cut the wire so I couldn’t slip it over. I put alottt of layers of tape.

Matt, first off, love all the vids. I have a 2005 Z71 Suburban I'm slowly making the way I want. Just got the same brand of remote start system, but model #CS7900AS today for Christmas. I REALLY don't want to wire up more than the remote start system. Can't find any installation instructions anywhere. Do you know if I can use my factory key fib to start? Or should I go ahead and get the same one you got as an upgrade? If I need the upgraded one, does or how does it get programmed to the compustar module? Thanks for any help, and Merry Christmas!!!

ill probably go the t tap way just because if i cut the wire by accident i may not give a good connection back somehow. I think use t taps is fine, its way quicker as well. I wanted to solder but i dont wanna mess anything up. Great video tho! I will be doing all of the wiring for our dodge, I just will use t taps no the solder. I got the cm-dc3 as well

Great video. When you mentioned that harness for the parking lights, you were talking about door locks. I wanna program an aftermarket compustar remote to open and lock. I paid for that so I might as well use it lol. Not sure how I connect it tho. Diagram doesn’t say.

If you’ve kept up with maintenance you still got a good 100,000 left, besides even when you reach that much buying another motor is cheaper then buying a new car and you get to keep your upgrades 🤷🏻♂️

I have a 2006 suburban i recently bought with 204,00 miles on her and even though shes stock and lags a bit to go into reverse.. i know i know the trans is on its last legs i feel any way... im keeping her and modding the f out of her beacuse i love her. If the engine or trans do go out at some point ill replace those being that it will be much cheaper than buying a new car. I love my suburban.

Hey man! Don’t know if you will see this, but I just got the DC3 module installed on my Silverado with the same Hardware harness, and everytime it remote starts it shows the emergency brake light, and says service brake system. The emergency brake isn’t engaged, and after driving maybe an quarter of a mile it goes away and only returns when remote started! Wondering if you experienced this! And if you know a fix also I told the compustar pro dealer and they looked at it and looked at me with confusion, and said they didn’t know.
@lsxmatt4 жыл бұрын
Did you tap into the correct wire for the brake pedal shutdown? Does it actually turn the truck off when you press the brake without the key in it?
@raptor03564 жыл бұрын
The compustar dealer installed the remote starter I should’ve said that so I’m guessing they installed it right, and I did tell them before I left and they had someone look at it and they said they didn’t know what is causing it they checked the wires. this is the first time I have ever seen that message pop up on instrument cluster. But yes to answer your question the truck does shut off when pressing the brake with no key! I may just have look for myself when I get the chance and see if they tapped into correct wire.
