Today we're installing a Flowrite brand remote drain plug in my z18. I'll go through all the tools you need and each step of the process. Super easy upgrade you can make to your boat!

Definitely seems like a great investment to my 05 skeeter I just bought this winter. Seems like it would add less bending/crouching behind the behind to hand tighten a plug.
@Everydayfishing2 жыл бұрын
Yeah definitely no need to bend down under the boat any more! It’s a super easy project too - good luck!

How long a cable did you have on your Flow Rite remote drain plug for your Z18 and can the cable be gently coiled and/or curved around obstacles?
@Everydayfishing2 жыл бұрын
I used the 8ft option and I had enough room to go from the drain to the shifter side of the driver seat. If you went with 10ft you could put a coil in it to take up the slack without any problems

Do these leak any at all ?
@Everydayfishing11 ай бұрын
Mine hasn’t leaked a drop. I still always check to ensure it’s fully in after using the switch, but it’s always been 100% water tight

Will it work if your plug opens to the inside of the boat
@Everydayfishing10 ай бұрын
No unfortunately - the cable runs behind the plug back to the switch... if the plug was inserted from the inside, the cable would have to run outside the boat
@chino0119 Жыл бұрын
Will that work on my 14ft Jon boat
@Everydayfishing Жыл бұрын
It should, but it depends on type of drain hole you have - some aluminum boats are meant to be plugged from the inside, and they don't have a perfectly circular opening on the outside. As long as the plastic housing on the remote drain plug will make a water-tight seal on your boat, then yes it will work.

What length did you buy?
@Everydayfishing6 ай бұрын
I used the 10ft length… I would recommend using a string to trace the route in your boat to be sure

Do you have a link? Great vid keeper coming

This is the one I bought - definitely make sure to measure on your boat though to make sure you buy one with the right size cable Flow-Rite Controls MPA-RDP-008 Remote Drain Plug W a.co/d/jfxPeKl

@@Everydayfishing Found that the cable is not the problem BUT the original drain plug hole is bigger than the remote drain plug..Had to make adapter with 1/4in lexan.

@@Letzgobrandun-wi1pc Oh wow, I thought 1 inch was a standard size. Nice job though!

I just came across this video online kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5XUkn6jgt6aoNk and immediately remember the video you made on this. Would you have use something like this instead of having to drill the bigger size hole by the driver seat? Just curious your thought on this? I want a remote drain plug and this seems less intrusive of a design in mounting it
@Everydayfishing10 ай бұрын
Yeah that corner bracket is super nice! I like that idea. Definitely saves you from making a bigger hole. Not quite as accessible... have to open the compartment at the ramp, but that's the only downside I can see.

Nothing about this improves on the long available Versiplug.

Good video, you needed some children's fingers to get the cable out back and if you didn't goof up once it would not be real.
@Garminrules Жыл бұрын
Hemostats are best little fingers around....great for removing deep hooks too.
@hunter609911 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t trust it.

No problems 18 months later - but maybe not for everyone
@hunter609911 ай бұрын
@@Everydayfishing I would just worry about that cable giving out, and the boat fills up.
@greggmeyer5836 Жыл бұрын
I would not trust that. It looks very Cheaply made. Not going to put that in or on my boat.

Flow-rite makes a good product - they’re used by lots of boat brands. I’ve had zero issues with mine. You probably have a Flow-rite valve in your live-well actually
