Well explained, but the deadbolt install is more complicated when replacing an older Schlage deadbolt in an existing door. Some of it not so obvious. I had to remove the side plate and this was clear on how to do that. Also with the diameter of my drill hole into the main door, I had to adjust the part of the lock that comes in from the side, with is discussed briefly in the video. If when go to assemble it, you put on the exterior face and when you go to install the back side with the turn latch, and the screws don't line up, you'll have to adjust the side piece coming in to make it longer. The written instructions are very sparse with few details, this video saved the day.

Thank you so much I am the kinda guy that doesn't usually read instructions and when I installed the first time there was a quarter in gap on deadbolt, I could literally see the outside. In the video you showed me how to extend and walahhh problem solved. Thanks again

Answered a couple questions. But getting the actuator rod in the right position with the bolt set either in open or lick position so that keying works correctly is not shown. It is essential to show this.

The video shows the thumb lock exactly vertical (halfway between locked and unlocked) when you install the first housing screw. This is essential! However, after installing four of these, I still haven't figured out how to best achieve this. I think it has to do with the position of the key in the lock, but three of the four times, I had to take the lock off and redo it off of the door, to get the key etc in the right position, then carefully transfer each piece back to the door. It also shows that the first housing screw is completely installed before attempting to insert the second housing screw. Also essential! Before i had realized this, i attempted to install both housing screws simultaneously. This won't work!

But actual size (diameter) of B60 deadbolt is larger than PD60716? I lost the key of PD60716 and then I bought a new B60 in Lowes store (only has this model), But I can't insert the B60 deadbolt into the existing hole. Thanks

Hello, I am not sure why you are having a discrepancy between the sizes but the B60 does require it to be 1 inch so if it's not fitting, I would measure that to ensure it is the correct size. Okay. I bought a B series deadbolt and I followed the instructions to a T. The deadbolt will not lock from the inside unless the key is inserted on the outside. Please help.

This is by far the best instructions. My husband put the part that has TOP on the bottom, had him fix that. Then he didn't use the part on the inside of the door. Men are so stubborn, he tried for 2 hours to get this right. He didn't even want me to google this, but thank goodness I did. Geez men!

Went to Lowe’s, the cocky man pointed at a lock and said “this is all you need”. Turns out my door doesn’t fit the style of Schlage lock he said I had to have, even though I had Schlage on the door previously. My bad for thinking if a person doesn’t know what he’s talking about that he at least keep quiet.

Yes, The deadbolts install the same, the B62 does not have a trim the F62 has.

So I had a door installed with this type of lock installed but I can’t lock it unless the key stays inside the lock and the deadbolt won’t move unless the key is in. How do I fix this?

Ok you gave me confidence but, your way too fast . I had trouble with the thumb latch not turning at all but it worked with the key. Problem turned out to be over tightening. And the bolt wasn't level. You're a chat bot tried to shake me down for $ 5.00 to get the answer. Has anyone else had trouble with the housing screws not ending up flush with the inside housing? I don't know what ive done wrong

Ok, now I see it. Both of the housing screws cannot go past the thumb lock at the same time. This is because the thumb lock has an almost 'v' shape, wider closer to the door. You have start with the thumb lock in the exact middle position, neither completely locked , nor completely unlocked. Now you can insert ONE of the housing screws. Once it is close enough to the door (closer to the door than the thumb lock is, and almost entirely tightened), only then can you insert the other housing screw. You want the first one only barely loose enough to be able to wiggle things just enough to get the second housing screw into its slot in the outside housing.

I did this easily in my own door. But I got the same deadbolt for my aunt's house and I couldn't fix it because the key would not come out after it's unlocked. Maybe that unit is defective or something.
