DIY Door Knob & Deadbolt Install - Exterior Door - Schlage Plymouth

Today I am installing the door knob and deadbolt on one of the basement exterior doors. I am using a Schlage Plymouth Cylinder Deadbolt and Door Knob Combo Pack in the color matte black. I used a cordless drill and a Phillips head screwdriver for this job. I also had to use a utility knife, chisel and hammer to carve out a larger notch for the deadbolt strike plate. I chose not to use the reinforcement plate for the deadbolt strike plate because I didn’t have room for it. But I did use some 2 ½” screws to anchor the deadbolt strike plate to the framing of the house.

That soft-wood😳really defeats the purpose of a deadbolt…

If you use the reinforcing plate and the long screws into the framing the soft wood doesn't matter, right?
