Old video but I think you were supposed to cut the hinge part of the frame 2 3/16 So that the bottom cross shoe or bug rubber strip goes all the way across on the bottom. But great video. Gonna install 2 tomorrow.

Ok as for the gap on the top. Personally, I would have placed the door flush with the top of the hinge channel. You gave it 1/16 of an inch for clearance which should be just fine, then I would have adjusted the bottom sweep plate to fill the gap on the bottom. The way you have it installed just does not look good. I believe the bottom sweeps are large enough and meant for that purpose. I do not mean to criticize your work, only that as the customer, I would have not accepted that installation placement of the door. And if you know you are working with aluminum, you should be prepared with the tools needed, such as the deburring tool for the holes, using the box knife is not a good way to represent how this is suppose to be done. There is one more item you did not mention and that was that you were placing this door onto the actual door trim work. Was that trim sturdy enough and anchored properly to be able to hold up to a swinging door. I would be upset if one day you go out and off comes the door along with the trim.....

Very nicely done. I need to install one of these to keep my cats from getting out accidently. One question, do you use a special blade in your mitre saw for cutting the molding? I have a mitre saw that has the standard blade installed that I use for cutting lumber. Can I use that or do I need another blade.

Thank you for your wonderful comments. We use a special saw blade that is very costly, but you can use a standard miter saw with a blade that can cut aluminum and get the same results.

@@Bestcustomscreens how many teeth does your blade have? I bought a Diablo blade for metal but it does not cut as clean as yours.

@@bernitup6492 It doesn't have to do with the teeth as much. You should have a 120 tooth carbide tip blade that cuts aluminum and it should work. But that is not why our saw cuts so smooth. The saw we use cuts steel, aluminum, wood, plastic and more. Why? Its because of the slower rotation and type of saw amzn.to/38PhT1z - Check it out! The Evolution Saw is amazing.

It's not really a guess. You need make sure it's 8 inches from the corners and one about center.

It's doesn't matter top or bottom or if you cut both to center. I usually cut top only because that's how I've been doing it for years.

Pre drill the wood screws so you don’t run the chance of splitting the wood , place 1/8 shims on the head and the strike side with tape for a solid reveal and shut the door and screw it off

Its is being installed in the door frame or you can also install at the stucco molding. The door frame is best if you have the room with your door handle. Hope this helps. Sorry for the later reply. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to help.

Because the customer ordered online and didn't measure correctly. We were able to fix it later and we needed to shoot the video. Either way it's worked out for us because this is one of our most watched videos and people always ask this question. Thank you for you input. Did you install a screen door today?

Once he slid the screen door into the track, he should have closed the door then slid the screen door up to leave a 3/16 inch gap at the top then use screws to attach screen to track. That's the reason why there's a gap on top. Other than that missed step, it was a great video.

Sorry but that’s NOT how you install that door-closer device! That’s why that door you installed will NOT fully open 90 degrees and it’s why it won’t pull closed as it should! The little plastic spacer is used for installation. It’s purpose is to create the correct space gap, THEN you screw on the other end while the door is fully closed, then you remove the plastic piece.

We realized there was a gap but we still shot the video because we had approval from the customer. Someone else measured and ordered online. This is what happens when someone doesn't know how to read a tape measure correctly. We still came back a later time and added a piece of U channel like it has on bottom to stop the bugs. I'm sorry we didn't see your message. There are so many comments on this video and missed it. The gap is explained on other comments. The customers ordered the screen door and install on our website. They measured incorrectly. We came back another day and added a top channel similar to the bottom big seal channel. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching 👀 🙂
