Thank you. I'm in Scotland, and in some areas we have lethal little insects called midges (think tiny, tiny mosquitoes by the million) but we don't have screen doors here. We just don't open doors and windows in midge season. I needed to know how a screen door works because I've only seen them in movies. Now I can build one. Thanks again.

I remember my Dad making the corner braces out of a triangle of wood. And he put two 2×2 side to side right above the halfway point so little hands didn't go through the screen. Very important questions. #1 can you recommend any other hardware for locking the inside other then that type of latch? #2 for someone with pets, wanting the air flow and view for the pets, but not wanting them to push it open and get out, can you recommend anything for the outside? Only problem is, I don't want someone messing with it and locking me IN. I hope no one else already asked this, I may not have read enough comments. I LOVE the way you did this. Simply explained. Ive wanted a screen door on my backdoor for 14 years, and this year, I'm doing it myself! Thank you so much for this!

Hi Tim I was wondering I bought a screen wood door from Lowe’s and one side has the wood and the other side is just the screen. The side that is just screen would be turned to inside but where would we drill hole for the spring ? It would be through the screen since the wood frame is only on one side. Is that what you did?

How do you keep the screen from splitting when you add the spring to the backside of the screen door? It seems like when you drill it you potentially create a tear? Great video THANKS for all the great information!
@RidgeLife2 жыл бұрын
The spring is only on the wood cross bar. Doesn’t get near the screen.
@hshadowens96952 жыл бұрын
The screen covers the whole back side (1 solid piece) which you have to drill through the screen in order to attach the eyelet for the spring. Drilling into the screen leads to potential tear… is there a way to prevent that other than being extra careful? And thanks for the quick response before my second comment/questions. Excellent video indeed!
@RidgeLife2 жыл бұрын
