Thank you! You clearly defined and showed the jamb and the casing and showed them up close. Then you showed how to measure, again with nice close ups and you announced the measurement while you showed where it lands on the tape. That gave me confidence as to exactly where you were measuring. All the other internet videos show from far away and don't tell the numbers, so you never know what exactly their measuring. Great job!

Thanks for the thorough explanation. I watched another video where, essentially, he just took a level, a couple of little wooden blocks, to support the door, and before you knew it, it was "up and running," so to speak. It took about half the time of your video, but I'm sure he made a lot of mistakes. But hey, it worked. Some people can do stuff like this in their sleep 💤😴

I appreciate your attention to detail and taking your time explaining on this video. I would would have a video like this 30 seconds and probably of missed some important details. I do have a question: Why do you go with the larger measurement on the height? I normally go with the smaller measurement.
@dragonslayer29962 жыл бұрын
So yes and no, in screen manufacturing you should always document 3 things. 1. Lockheight you want ( so as to not interfere of pre existing hardware or to replace screen already there in same holes) 2. Not any difference in HWS ( Height, width and square) 3. Build out or stops required.

My house is 90 yrs old. I have the old style metal storm door with the double glass, both replaceable with screens. The casing is 29.5" but that's with the door installed of course. I wonder if I take the aluminum casing off the frame if it will be 30". So, a door that is listed as 30".. is that with the casing or without the casing?

I don't want to install a screen door, I just want to replace one that's broken. So can I just measure the door? If so, what are the chances that I'll find the exact measurements at the store?
@donnysdoors2544 жыл бұрын
Yes you can measure just the door. The store will carry What is called a door blank. It will need to be trimmed to fit most of the time. I make custom screen doors so this video gives my costumers instruction of the proper way to measure. I send them down a door that is a close fit needing little trimming.

The noun form of broad is breadth, the noun form of long is length, and the noun form of wide is width. Because of this, some people follow the pattern and say heighth, with a th at the end of the word high. That is not standard English. The correct form is height.

so, most standard screen doors that you can buy at Lowe's or Home Depot are 30, 32, 34 or 36. Is he saying you'd have to order a custom door? As in his example here, could he buy a 34 inch wide door and make it fit, or what?
@njfabio15 жыл бұрын
Yeah... Most of the time, you can rip qual amounts off. However you will not obtain the same width of board all around.
@pmny34235 жыл бұрын
Yes. You round down and then fill in the gap with moulding.
@PoolarityChannel5 жыл бұрын
Those standard size doors are not absolute sizes, they "usually" have tolerances that are +/- 1/2" so a door advertised as a 32" door will fit a 31.5" width and up to a 32.5" width. Download the installation manual first, before you buy and make sure that is what the manual itself states.

I make Doors to fit openings with minimal but necessary trimming, This video also tells a person how to write down on a paper they can carry to the store to find a appropriate blank.

"Height" please!-- there is no "th" @ end but an "ht". The consonant sound produced by "th" is as pronounced here....improperly since the spelling is rather an "ht" suffix which is tten just a regular "t" sound. Grammar is major for me so correct please. Your content is great and I've saved it.
