Why do you need to put a new antenna if it already has the sharkfin antenna? Did the truck come with Sirius from factory?

The stock sharkfin antenna is for AM/FM radio, not satellite. This tuner is designed for aftermarket head units.

They make adapters that allow you to do that, but not all cars came with Satellite Radio natively, so the antenna adds that functionality that wasn’t there before

I got a Clarion CX-501 Sirius Ready Radio and the wires for the Sirius tuner would not fit the radio, it was a different connection..... what is going on?

If the OEM radio that's being replaced already has Sirius XM built into it, can you use that antenna instead of running another antenna? That should be a cleaner install.

I have a question. I have the older jvc sirius module and I'm grandfathered in, no subscriptions nor monthly fees to pay. My old car is getting old and wanted to transfer this jvc module to a new car, 2022 nissan sentra but keep the factory sat. ready stereo in the car. Is there a adapter or interface that might help me connect the jvc tuner to the nissan factory stereo? Thanks any feedback appreciated.

Can you plug a kenwood cd or minidisc changer to that Sirius input? I got a kmd401 I would like to use with a new kenwood unit. I am after the big 10.1 screen model ideally. Really want to use this old md changer. Is there any chance you can experiment for me and see if it works? Try it with a kenwood cd changer maybe. It would be gratefully appreciated

yeah ive been told you CAN NOT. but i have a free box coming from best buy and ill see what the pinouts are. ive wondered myself for years as the old kenwood head units with changers would work as satellite receivers but that was 20 years ago. its a old reply but im sure were not the only 1s

@@luvdady Yeh plug looks the same as it did back then and they still say you can use it for dab. Before they said dab or changer that's why it got me thinking maybe it is compatible but they don't say so because the cd md changer game is old like you said

Ok just got the box for the satellite. The plug is smaller then the cd/old plug and pinouts different. So no dice sadly. Which I got a new head unit that has hd radio etc no cd, so changer would have been great

Is there no power source needed? It's just the antenna to the tuner to the radio? I had a Starmate 2 from 2005 and it finally died on me. I have an extra Starmate 2 but wondering if it's best to just buy that tuner since my new dash radio is a Pioneer DEH-x8700BS. Thanks.

The XM tuner draws the current directly from the radio, no external power source required. The SXV300v1 is very inexpensive and works great, i recommend it for your DEH-x8700BS.

If you already have the SAT button and want to retain the factory radio, you will need the factory GM XM turner module, this module only works for aftermarket applications.

Generally the XM tuner is built into the factory radio. This is not the case with aftermarket radios which is why they require this adapter. You can probably use the factory antenna, but the XM radio adapter is needed.

So I get a new touchscreen radio installed and now it doesn't work with new radio guy says get the tuner and install that if I want it.
