I like how you educate us DIYers what and why you're doing what you do. What materials are best, what tools are needed and things to consider before, during and after you build. Thanks a million! ♥️👍🏻🇺🇸

Little tip on the grass at the side of deck to get a nice grass finish get a spade take out a tiny bit of mud from under the grass without damaging the grass then press the grass down to curve over the mud to give it that better look 👍🏻

9:10 Gods watering can 😉🙏🏼 Spot on about the tools Dave. All I have is a Spade,a 5 foot wrecking bar,a decent hand saw ,a £60 Cordless with two batteries,a wheel barrow,a bag of hand tools,chisel’s and 30 years experience in Civil and Military Engineering. Yes it takes me longer and yes it takes more effort but the job gets done to a high standard and I never run over my quotes. My only concern is my sparse tools array getting robbed by a full kit wanker in poser clobber 😉👍🏼

I’ve been doing decking for around 12 years now and honestly the biggest tip I can give for smaller sized decks is to pay attention to what direction you put your boards on IE left to right or front to back. Can give you the illusion the deck is bigger than it actually is sometimes.

Looking good lads. Some on here Brand bragging should watch the Torque test channel and learn a few things. No customer I have ever worked for has ever asked me what brand of tool I use and never had one complaint on my work. Also I wonder how many know Decking Board can come both side grooved and how many engage not having a clue what the client has asked for. I have had loads of jobs where I have advised the correct way to do jobs but they have wanted their own version. Great job guys.

Oi Dave I’m not old I use inch when working with wood, I’m not a pro so I find it easier 😂. I don’t have the proper gear nor the Materials but I did have a idea 💡 so during lockdown I reclaimed some decking and the frames, I cleaned them all up and got what tools I had out and made a big decking across the back of my house and closed it all in and it’s been up almost 2 years, i liked the idea 💡 of allenkeys for spacers for the decking boards I used packers that all I could think of at the time but worked. A great insight to build a little decking Dave and Stevie 👍 few things I would change how I done mine to how you done yours defo, for future reference I’ll do it 🤝.

Nice to see you using 3 4 5 to square it up, ideally you should do 3ft 4ft 5ft gives you a bigger reference area and ensure the whole frame is square rather than a few inches 👍🏻

Good point on Ryobi. Tool snobbery is silly....lovely little decking job ....."agitated" 👍🏻 I think it was....but who knows with Steve 😜 As per super job..... I saw a video the other day on what is the right way (side) to lay decking ....many lay it with the ribbed side down for air whereas I've always laid it like you with ribs up for grip....what's your opinion ? Take care both and see you on Sunday 👌👍🏻✋

I did a deck last year and did a screw space, but the gap has gone a bit too big for my liking now. If I did it again I would butt them right up against each other as if they have just been dipped then will only shrink.

I’m a bit late to the D&J show but loving the videos lads, great work, pure graft, and great to see a Dad and Lad working together like you two do! Nice little decking tutorial, gonna do this myself, stupid question but what size timbers/joists did you use?

Another tidy job boys I noticed at the end you seemed to have added 4x2 round the edge do you always do that on your decking jobs. oh and regarding your dad tidying the sawn edges I thought it was just me doing it but I'm old school DIY and use a small hand plane

I'm like your old man don't like waring glove when I worked. But I'm on the permanent disabled list but before I let it become a permanent thing I hung drywall taped and textured drywall for 13 years until my doctor got tired of reading in my file that I was in the E.R. again because my back was spasmodic or uncontrollable back spasms or both legs were cramping up even when pounding down water
@Jan0075242 жыл бұрын
What were the type of screws you used for the decking?
@simonfootie6255 Жыл бұрын
You should use full boards and you won't get waste if you use 2.4 m or whatever is closest to the length of the frame Plus make sure the boards are layed down wet so you don't need to use spacers as they will shrink If you use spacers then the gaps will be too much once they dry out Also you have too much spring in your frame you should've used centre supports
@jackmorgan19873 жыл бұрын
