What happens to the original sensor harness? Does this throw a oil light on?
@Barrenchats6 жыл бұрын
FYI buy a Metric adapter plug before you start anything dealing with the oil pressure if you plan on using the top access plugs almost every gauge or fitting is NPT and Subaru's use BSPT wasted 2 days build time looking for the right adapter

Apparently you just cut a piece of electrical tape and put it over the oil light.
@flatmotion12 жыл бұрын
I'd suggest since the switch basically just closes a circuit when pressure is there you can possible short it to ground or block and the light should always be off. Switch normally open, closes circuit when pressure is there, creates short, light goes off. So terminating it on any ground on the vehicle, body, block, ground line etc should have the same effect. Or maybe nothing happens if you unplug it lol

Theres also a spot on the back of the block... Where you wont have to remove the dummy light sensor
@bryce53915 жыл бұрын
Where you will also get inconsistent oil pressure readings because its so far from the pump. Better than nothing, sure, but its much better to have right above the pump

does replacing the factory sensor cause the oil pressure light to stay on? If so, is there a resistor that can be used to "trick" the sensor?

would it be possible to wire in the dummy light to the new low oil pressure warning light system to get it to display in oil dummy light location and in gauge?
@Speedhut7 жыл бұрын
It would be possible, yes. You would need to find the pinout on the dash cluster and then adapt one of the jumpers from our remote shift light to wire into the OEM light. If you are planning on doing this shoot me an email to Tech@speedhut.com and I can send you wiring diagrams, part numbers, and walk you through it.
@g6qwerty7 жыл бұрын
You said "our remote shift light to wire into the OEM light." did you mean for the low Oil pressure warning Light? (not the shift light)

Why did you have to use a aftermarket galley plug? Did it not fit on the factory one?
@GushMotoring7 жыл бұрын
Thank you, great video! Quick question, how much torque did you guys put down when fitting the Galley plug? I am wondering because with brass fitting into aluminum there is a chance of stripping if too tight and I definitely do not want it too loose. Also if I place a custom logo in the middle of the gauge, will it light up with the rest of the gauge? Thank you
@Speedhut7 жыл бұрын
Yes you can have custom logos on your gauge that will light up. Around 10 ft-lbs should do it for torque on the galley plug.

Speedhut Custom Gauges Thank You for the info!
@Speedhut7 жыл бұрын
That wire was unplugged from the oil pressure switch which was removed. In doing so, the oil pressure light in your dash is now not functional, assuming you are removing said switch for the addition of an oil pressure gauge, there is no need for this light since you now have a much more accurate way to monitor oil pressure. Hope that helps!

Oil PSI 😂 more like oil pressure, funny title tough
@grantrobinett65186 жыл бұрын
I dont get it? Oil Pounds per Square Inch (PSI)?
@1slashwylde5 жыл бұрын
@@grantrobinett6518 thats only pneumatics, because gas compresses. In hydraulics it doesnt compress so its just a constant pressure
@dfw_motorrad13295 жыл бұрын
@@1slashwylde PSI is a unit of measurement for pressure. Force over area. It has nothing to do with compression of the fluid. Even solids exert pressure due to gravity. You could weigh your car (lbs.), measure the area of each contact patch (sq. in.), and divide the weight by the area, and end up with pressure (lbs./sq. in.). And it's a common misconception that liquids don't compress. They do, but just on a very small scale. Hydraulic oil is usually 0.5% per 1,000 PSI.
