nice video, one question, when fixating the radiator you put the m1 screws in to hold the frame together. would it not be easier to align the studs so the screw hole point outwards. not like anyone going to see them anyway and WAY easier to install. I saw you fiddling behind the radiator with the screwdriver and tiny skrew. you quickly skipped this part assuring me this the biggest headache of the video lolol. cheers man!

OK up to a point but my challenge is this. There has never been a radiator in our bathroom but now I would like to install a towel rail running off the CH system. I have the boiler flow and return pipes under the bathroom floor. Could I just connect to these? A small concern would be that the pump would come after the flow input to the towel rail. It is far from practical to try to run a new point to join after the pump. Another idea might be just to cut into two points on the boiler flow rather after the CH systems of old relying on the small pressure differential across 50cms or so of pipe. Any guidance would be welcome. Thanks!

It seemed to be a plasterboard wall you hung the rad on by looking at how easily the drill went through, is that enough to support the rad? I recently hung a towel rad myself but chose to opt for a block wall after reading the literature stating not to use a stud wall, was just wondering? Cheers

Why not doing the 2 top ones in the same way you did the 2 below ones? I mean installing the 4 fixing points on the towel rail. Connect the rad to the valve and pipe work while somebody holds the weight of the rad which has no support at that stage and draw around the 4 holes around the brackets. Then undo the union at the valve or compression and remove the rad. Drill, secure the 4 brackets in one go and put the rad back on. How does that sound to you?

I am going to be installing a towel radiator shortly, my existing pipes are 10mm and most valves seem to be 15mm. Will using 10/15 reducers between the pipes and valves have any detrimental effect on the performance?
@mikauzer2926
@mikauzer2926 8 жыл бұрын
No, you it will be okay. If you are confident at soldering you could buy a 15/10mm reducer and put the 15mm end directly into the valve and tighten up (I do this because I don't trust the reducer kits supplied.

Is it possible to connect bent tap connectors to radiator valves if (as in my case) it results in less exposed pipe work ? Even if it were possible would it be ill advisablle e.g., flow rate issues ?

***** Are you suggesting that it wouldn't work or that it would just be ugly? The situtaion is like this: I want the radiator valves to turn INWARDS just like in your video and then to go into the wall, this is why I've bought straight ones rather than angled, as the knobs on angled valves would protrude outwards. The valves are chrome-plated as is the &£6+ (each) tap connector that I have purchased, so as they compliment each other they look a lot more aestheticly pleasing than having a tiny bit of pipe then an elbow. I am PRESUMING that a radiator valve is pretty much just a tap in a different form ie., it just controls the flow of water by twisting the knob - but I may be wrongand you're the EXPERT. The only potential problem I can foresee is that water only flows one way to a tap, but radiator valves obviously return the water to the radiator circuit.

'allo fella, just wanted to say how bloody good all your vids are. I've just completed fasttrack courses in level 2 and 3 plumbing but your experience is invaluable to me. if you want a half cooked apprentice (need to fill portfolio's, all tech certs are done and done) then let me know and ill move house. I've now fitted an outside tap as per your method, only difference is I used a small washer as my bricks were a bit lumpy, and plenty of silicone. I am going to be using this vid to add in a towel rad. my issue is getting the pipes from the existing C/H circuits to my new towel rad in a new en-suite. I will be buying an SDS drill to do this, and coming to your site (www.Plumberparts.co.uk) to choose which one to buy as I know your advice can be trusted. Thankyou very much for your help! keep up the great work... aaawesoome. PlumbBob

I would imagine that he has to use existing pipes from previous radiator. Towel radiator was obviously purchased after tiling was done in the bathroom. Sometimes you can't always plan so far in advance. Otherwise all that tiling has to be ripped off.
