How much fluid did you prime the torc converter with and how much does it take all together to refill the transmission? Great video.. I am going to tackle my Lightning soon
@TheMinuteMasters6 жыл бұрын
I put two quarts of fluid in the converter which seems to be the standard. The transmission as a whole, I think takes 12-14. In all honesty, I just fill the transmission until the dip stick reads the correct level. You should be safe with 12-14. Though. Even if you are still a bit short, you will have enough fluid to get to an auto parts store. If you have too much you can return it or keep it one a shelf for a future change.

Thank you for your reply. The driveshaft is not installed. I can’t turn the torque converter because it has 4 bolts that’s go into the flywheel. How long did the entire install take?
@TheMinuteMasters6 жыл бұрын
Ashley .Nicole If I remember correctly. I think it took me around 3 hours. When I set out to do a project like this. I set aside a whole day to be safe. However, you can definitely do an install in a morning or in an afternoon. Definitely faster with my people.

The Minute Masters thank you:) I was thinking it would take 2-3 days. Thank God🙌 Also, where did you get your transmission from?
@TheMinuteMasters6 жыл бұрын
Ashley .Nicole Yeah no! Lol Not that long. One day I removed my transmission and set it up on a work table. The next day I took it apart and rebuilt it. The third day I installed the transmission. My brother and I swapped a transmission in a Chevy 3500 van and that took us 4-5 hours. So as I mentioned, this is the original transmission that I had someone rebuild. Several thousand miles later the over drive band burnt out. So I rebuilt it myself.

I know this isn't transmission related but I got a 95 f150 5.0. Drives great but when I'm having a hard time starting the truck. I have good fuel pressure and I just replaced the regulator. The fuel leak down test did show that it was losing fuel pressure after it primed. Any ideas? Leaking injector?

Jakestarr1723 Unfortunately, multiple things can cause hard starting. I usually start by eliminating cheap variables. Make sure each part of the fuel, ignition, and air system is working. Here’s some suspects: I’m not sure if these trucks have a fuel pressure regular/check valve. If they do, I would check that. Make sure the fuel filter is new. They are cheap and can cause problems. Visually check the injectors and make sure nothing is leaking. If necessary (and it’s takes some time) remove the injectors and have them cleaned. The last thing you can do, is test the vacuum of the engine. They sell vacuum test gauges at any parts store. Hook it up to and vacuum line on the engine.

Jakestarr1723 No problem man! Let me know how it goes!

The Minute Masters turns out it was the vapor purge solenoid had failed. I was able to use the paper clip method and read the codes.
@TheMinuteMasters7 жыл бұрын
Jakestarr1723 Right my fault man. I should have told ya to check the codes. That would cause the problem. The solenoid probably caused a vacuum leak, which in turn caused the hard starting.

GM torque converter with bolts is so much easier, Those studs on the torque converter make this install a bunch of bullshit

I’ve pulled a trans from a Chevy express 3500 and I thought it had the same stud and nut setup.

What’s your Snapchat name I really want to see the truck running? I showed this video to my dad and he said you make it look easy so he’s going to try to tear his down too. Hopefully he don’t mess it up lol.

Anevaeh Chisholm mm-treacy. Haha! Maybe a little but I think it really is that straightforward. He’ll be just fine. 🤙
