How much fluid did you prime the torc converter with and how much does it take all together to refill the transmission? Great video.. I am going to tackle my Lightning soon
@TheMinuteMasters
@TheMinuteMasters 6 жыл бұрын
I put two quarts of fluid in the converter which seems to be the standard. The transmission as a whole, I think takes 12-14. In all honesty, I just fill the transmission until the dip stick reads the correct level. You should be safe with 12-14. Though. Even if you are still a bit short, you will have enough fluid to get to an auto parts store. If you have too much you can return it or keep it one a shelf for a future change.

@@rasheedaustin6064 So there is a piece of metal that holds the middle part of your dip stick tube. Without it, the tube won’t stay seated. That would explain why fluid leaks out when you start it or try to fill it up. That plate is held in place by two of the transmission bell house bolts.

Oh, and just a random question: why do you opt not to use a GoPro for tricky two-handed demonstrations? I know you don't want to make the videos long by showing all work, but you seem chagrinned sometimes that you are limited to one-handed demos. @borderlineiq
@borderlineiq 5 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to drag on, but you have a very large upside potential for monetizing, and that without product placement or even merchandizing. Your videos are highly specific, so you have a small base compared to someone like Chris Fix. However, your presentation skills, awareness of camera use, perception of the viewer's need, and personality mean you could cast about and find broader topics that have a wider audience. It may be your general contracting know-how to give homeowner tips. Or it could be your knowledge of history/religion/design. I can't know that, but you do, and your family and friends know. Whatever it is, your followers would be in the millions if you were to land on that. I used to teach, but I rarely saw such potential, which is why I've stayed after you on this. You enjoy broadcasting. You are easy on the eyes. You are natural in your delivery. Seize on that. Fulfill your calling. You are no doubt successful at project management, but that is a job. This is something you have that others do not. I have no reason to flatter. This is offered as a goad. @@TheMinuteMasters

Thank you for your reply. The driveshaft is not installed. I can’t turn the torque converter because it has 4 bolts that’s go into the flywheel. The tc spun freely before I installed the transmission. And all 4 bolts came through the holes on the flywheel. Does it have do to anything with the transfer case being installed? If the tc was not seats right, the transmission would have not lined up correctly. I’m stuck and trying to figure out what went wrong
@TheMinuteMasters

sargon khabeer Ok, yeah your transfer case could have something to do with it. If the tc lined up with the flywheel and the bell housing bolts installed. Then it should be mated properly. You tried putting a socket on the crankshaft bolt on the front of the engine and turned the crank shaft?

I don't believe that it's going to be detrimental in any way shape or form, just sharing a little tip that was given. 😉 I just got my 4R75E back into my 05 e250 and should have the trans cooler and driveline hooked up today and able to test drive it. 1 - Don’t force any bolts and risk cross threading 2 - Don’t over torque any bolts and be sure to apply the proper torque spec 3 - Use the correct transmission fluid. Fords are sensitive to fluids. Mercon V for most of the older truck transmissions. 4 - Make sure the torque converter fits over both shafts. They call it the double clunk. It should slide on and stop. It won’t be completely on. I'm thinking if I remove the trans mount and loosen the engine mounts I can get it to tip back enough to do it that way...... Makes me wonder how they put 5.0s out of these explorers into Ford rangers

Brent Bahe Sounds like your torque converter isn’t transferring power or your transmission pump isn’t pushing fluid. Make sure your fluid is at the correct level.

Got a question. Just finished installing my rebuilt trans on 2004 f150. Everything went smooth but I can’t turn the crankshaft to get to the other tc bolts.
@TheMinuteMasters
@TheMinuteMasters 6 жыл бұрын
sargon khabeer the crankshaft should turn. If not, turn the torque converter. If the drive shaft is in place you’ll have to either jack up the rear or remove the drive shaft.

@TheMinuteMasters 6 жыл бұрын
Ashley .Nicole If I remember correctly. I think it took me around 3 hours. When I set out to do a project like this. I set aside a whole day to be safe. However, you can definitely do an install in a morning or in an afternoon. Definitely faster with my people.
@NicNameIsNicki

The Minute Masters thank you:) I was thinking it would take 2-3 days. Thank God🙌 Also, where did you get your transmission from?
@TheMinuteMasters
@TheMinuteMasters 6 жыл бұрын
Ashley .Nicole Yeah no! Lol Not that long. One day I removed my transmission and set it up on a work table. The next day I took it apart and rebuilt it. The third day I installed the transmission. My brother and I swapped a transmission in a Chevy 3500 van and that took us 4-5 hours. So as I mentioned, this is the original transmission that I had someone rebuild. Several thousand miles later the over drive band burnt out. So I rebuilt it myself.

I know this isn't transmission related but I got a 95 f150 5.0. Drives great but when I'm having a hard time starting the truck. I have good fuel pressure and I just replaced the regulator. The fuel leak down test did show that it was losing fuel pressure after it primed. Any ideas? Leaking injector?
@TheMinuteMasters
@TheMinuteMasters 7 жыл бұрын
Jakestarr1723 Unfortunately, multiple things can cause hard starting. I usually start by eliminating cheap variables. Make sure each part of the fuel, ignition, and air system is working. Here’s some suspects: I’m not sure if these trucks have a fuel pressure regular/check valve. If they do, I would check that. Make sure the fuel filter is new. They are cheap and can cause problems. Visually check the injectors and make sure nothing is leaking. If necessary (and it’s takes some time) remove the injectors and have them cleaned. The last thing you can do, is test the vacuum of the engine. They sell vacuum test gauges at any parts store. Hook it up to and vacuum line on the engine.

@TheMinuteMasters
@TheMinuteMasters 7 жыл бұрын
Jakestarr1723 Right my fault man. I should have told ya to check the codes. That would cause the problem. The solenoid probably caused a vacuum leak, which in turn caused the hard starting.
