Hey Terry!! Thanks for the comment brother! Yes BRAKES are a must and will be happening early next year for sure. I'm probably going to end up warping these drums... LOL ;)

I have never seen a rivet gun that style!! Very cool! Nice job!

Yes, that rivet gun comes in very handy and worked well.

Not sure If this was suggested, but I'd use some of the left over insulation to cut a piece for the tunnel inspection plate?
@JWClassicVW4 жыл бұрын
You bet Kris!! I was going to do that when I go back and cover the tunnel. Good looking out brother!

JW, excellent video my man! I wanted to use a rivet nut tool to add "carb adjustment doors" on the inside of my fenders but the only tools I saw were the long handled rivet nut tool that you'd have to take the fenders completely off to use! With these side mount rivet nut tool, I should be able to do it with the fenders installed. Glad I happened onto your KZbin site! Thanks...you've made my day!

Better if the shape is oval or rounded, to keep the frame strong. 👍👍👍
@JWClassicVW4 жыл бұрын
Oval or round would be ideal, but if done correctly and if the access hole isn't very large you shouldn't see any issues with the integrity of the chassis.
@terrypapineau69934 жыл бұрын
And you are adding a patch. The patch replaces the lost integrity.

What are the reasons for an inspection window?
@JWClassicVW4 жыл бұрын
Hey there buddy!! Serves a few different purposes the one I have in mind is running the new fuel line for the injection system to be installed at some point but also this is often required to complete repairs on the clutch cable tube. Besides those, it is also a great place to stash a few million dollars if you need to... lol

That patch turned out awesome!! Another tool added to my list!! Thanks for sharing!!

Jason! Did you leave those runs on the inspection plate? Are we gonna have to revoke your OCD merit badge? 😉. I’ll be making the exact same access port on my Flea-Wee (now that I know how it’s done.). The thought of never having to wrestle again with replacing a clutch cable makes me all giddy. Thanks Brother!
@JWClassicVW3 жыл бұрын
Lol... I did leave the runs... out of site and out of mind. I love that access window, I've replaced my cluch cable once and it made all the difference. Thanks for being here.

I was thinking about this little hatch today, when I went to fix the Fastback's clutch pedal and the clutch cable slipped off the hook the first time. "Wouldn't it be so easier if there were a door....."
@JWClassicVW4 жыл бұрын
Yes definitely, this access area would allow you the ability to replace the cable without removing the pedal assembly. I was thinking the same thing!!

Jason, I’m replacing the brake and fuel lines on my 64 (as well as preserving the pans top and bottom). Question, really don’t like the idea of the fuel line (original) being in the tunnel. I’d like to run a new line. Haven’t removed the engine yet but how can I replace the current fuel line? Do I have to cut the same opening? Thanks
@JWClassicVW4 жыл бұрын
Hey Scott good morning brother!! If you want to replace the fuel line and not run it in the tunnel Chris Vallone has a pretty good video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqObqX6wm72rqpI If your wanting to replace the OG line in the tunnel then yes you will need to complete some surgery on your VW. The OG line is held in the tunnel in 3 separate locations by tabs. One by the pedal cluster, one near the e-brake and the final tab is located near the shift coupler.
