Nice video. I just ordered one for my 450RX, I’ll probably route everything like you did. I run engine ice, and I haven’t had it long but I’m hoping to get some more hours out of the motor before rebuilds with the combination. In tight trail and hill climbing I’ve had to watch and get some air through it on hot days. Riding CR250s. Never worry with heat. But I love the torque of the 450s. Both are fun to ride. But the 450RX is a awesome bike for me. With a bad right knee the E start is so nice.

Tech says you can put the sensor probe above or below the fan, which I did initially. I recommend you place the sensor to a location that senses the temperature of the coolant coming out of the engine before it gets to the fan.

You guys need to make bracket for this new model 2019 CRF450X instead of using the zip tie method. The radiator is the same as a 450L and the mounting points are already there.

Agreed. I think Honda needs to make a plug-n-play system that can be bolt directly on those pre-existing radiator holes. Yamaha offers this on their FX models for $90 on the Yamaha parts store. Not sure why Honda can't do the same. Just sell the fan that comes on the 450L for like $100, shouldn't be that hard... Just emailed Honda about this and now waiting for a response.

I have a 2022 CRF 450. I understand that in the kit it’s designed to come on at 190° but is that a good temperature for it to come on or should I set it to a lower temperature? If so, what should that temperature be or is 190° perfect for a 450

For your model 190 degrees is right in the middle of operating range.

After you shut the bike off, if the fan is on, it will continue to run until it drops below a certain temp. After that, it won't draw any power from the bike.

The temperature yours should be set at will depend on your specific bike, how you ride, and where you're riding. But the stock setting of 190 degrees is a great place to start and will work well most people. If you notice your bike getting up over 200 then you may want to set the temp lower but if you feel that it turns on too often you can set it a little higher.

We recommend putting the temperature sensor probe above or below the fan but it shouldn't be a problem installing it on the other radiator.

I bought a fan for my 2021 te 300 that I'm planning to install a radiator fan. Tusk from RM atv's. do guys know If i have to buy a relay or something that will not drain my battery? This is the first time I've installed a fan. I have no idea how much battery it uses. Is there anyone here who has installed one before? Can you give me ideas or recommendations? Justin Saunders I just put a little 12v in the air box and run a 6” light bar and the rad fan. I’ve been pretty busy lately so haven’t had a chance to run it a lot but I did some single track and it worked really well to keep it cool. It was running for a good hour and a half and didn’t die so I’m not sure how long it will last. And yes I charge it at home

I'm trying to figure out if I can run this off a small rc car batter and how long it would last. The battery is 1500mAh, 11.1 volts. This fan says it uses 15 watts. I'm imagining it would run about an hour full time or a couple if its turning on and off. Would I just be able to hook it directly to the battery? Any info is greatly appreciated!

Yeah that will run a fan for sure for a "short" period, to short IMO for anything be going slow enough to need a fan on to keep it cool. Assuming where installing on something without enough juice to power accessories (lets say a 2001 CR250) could add a lighting stator then a regulator rectifier and a larger battery (ricky stator sells all). That will produce more VAC then get rectified/regulated to 12VDC. Hook fan up to battery still and will run and keep battery charged. Plus likely a little extra power if had to add something else like a USB charger or lighting, etc...

I'm sure the more endurance I'll have to upgrade to a recharging system like you were talking about. Thanks for the info bro!

Dielectric grease is recommended. The Tusk Radiator fan kit comes with a small tube for install.

What is the shut off temperature? Can you set that too or is just a few degrees less than the start-up temp? Can you set the thermostat to display °C?

The computer comes programmed to turn the fan on at 190 degrees but can be changed based on your needs. Unfortunately, the display cannot be changed to Celsius.

I would only recommend using it with a battery. Anything else is up to you but if you can't run it, you can look into other options to prevent boil over like a high pressure radiator cap or Evens coolant. The bike can still get hot with that stuff, but keeping the coolant inside is obviously always better than not having it in there. -Charles

No, stator produces VAC, fan needs 12VDC. Need a regulator rectifier and small battery. Plus that stator needs to have enough VAC to run fan and cover small conversion loss! Most the time will need a new stator since systems won't have enough power but not always.

The springs can be used between the back of the fan and the radiator to put additional pressure on the backing plate. They may not be necessary for every installation.

Hi, very dissapointed, please sent me a new temp sensor and a new thermostat/display. Stopped working in my first ride, seems to be a common problem the temp sensor and LCD. Changed the Sensor and nothing happens.

Most motorcycle fan kits (even factory ones) pull from a radiator sensor just a different style. It's fine and IMO desired. When you shut the bike off the coolant flow stops, the bikes motor and coolant in it continues to heat up for a while longer but coolant doesn't move through the motor anymore (since very few motorcycles use electric coolant fans) so the radiator fan can still run with sensor there and when cools down the radiator and coolant in that part of a now closed circuit enough to meet whatever the setting is then it will then shut off generally after a fairly short period. Have that sensor in say the engine head the thing will run WAY longer when set at the same setting trying to cool all that mass down and could effect battery output when go to start it again. It's not a engine temp gauge, it's a thermo sensor to control a fan. Plus what you going to sell a expensive head with prob or weld in bung with a universal fan kit, no!

The fan pulls more air through the radiator than what would normally be going through (especially at slower speeds) which improves cooling and lowers coolant temperatures.
