Hi Dez. I have just changed motors from a x30 to a rotax evo and the new Rotax exhaust does not have a EGT mounting hole. Any suggestions on how to do that would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Hey Dyl, sure can mate... - use some teflon tape to wrap a couple of laps around the tread. - remove the water temp sensor bung/plug from the head of the engine (red part) just in front of the spark plug. - turn in the new water sensor using a 13mm spanner. boom, you done!

What is your opinion on the Alfano lambda sensor? Is it as good as the mychron one you showed on the Others Video?

I haven't used it yet. we are test running ALfano out this year so I will get a lambda sensor and let ya know. It will work the same as almost all lambda set ups I would imagine.

mostly hardware upgrades internally. same interface and features, so if your 5 is still working like a dream, situation normal.

Great vid Dez. Perfect timing as was just researching between the Mychron 5 and Alfonso 6. I am running a 4SS Clubmaxx and was thinking that the Alfonso would be easier for me as When I do practice days I am by myself so have no one to do a stopwatch. Is it correct that the Mychron needs a beacon, but the Alfonso has in built GPS? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Hey AL, nah both are GPS units. basically they are both the same main features, only the display and operating systems are different.

The Mychron 5 and 5s also uses GPS. The new Mychron 5s version has more accurate GPS than the Mychron 5. The beacon pick up is an option that you don’t really need.

@@PowerRepublic im thinking 21 cells lg 60ah prismatics from automotive wreck cells weigh 19kg total pack around 25-30kg enclosed but its low and centred Motor weighs 10kg and controller 3kg plus a water loop im estimating a tony kart around 85kg there abouts. Dont have the weight of a rolling chassis by any chance ?

Hi there! Hope you feel better soon! Great video as always. I have two boys in their first season of competition in Thailand. So, I find information on your videos incredibly helpful! I have a question about how you wind up the rpm cable. In the MyChron5s manual, it recommends to just run the rpm cable along the spark plug cable without going around it (for two-stroke engine). But to do it exactly the same way as your videos when measuring a four-stroke engine. Which you think works more accurately? Hey Tang, thanks heaps for tuning in. would love to come to Thailand soon for a karting trip, which track is your local? we use the wrap around method if the straight on method isn't working. both are accurate if they are working at all. If you don't have a preference then I would do the wrap around method.
