A 1/4 inch clevis pin also works instead of buying the tool. And it only costs $2 at home depot.

Detent installation tool, starting punch, rubber mallet. I put this thing together using some light duty grease and a metal handled knife and didn’t scratch up the finish. Idk if I should feel proud or lucky

Use needle nose pliers to hold the end of pin.... then once it's pushed infringement the pivot pin up to replace the pliers . It works. There's a video on it. If u don't have the tool and are struggling. Watch the video if u need to see visually what I described it's the only thing that worked for me

I always get a kick when they say it's so hard to put the detent in with the spring all you have to do is use a toothpick push the spring in take another toothpick from the side of the receiver in that tiny little hole use the point of it to hold the spring while you put the detent in and the pivot pin pull the toothpick out of the spring allowing it to put tension on the detent and pivot pin it's really super easy and if a toothpick doesn't work use a sewing needle to hold the spring down through that teeny hole
