Thanks Jim. Excellent video for reasonably priced irrigation. I noticed people are having problems with the gardenia solar system irrigation. They're using cheap plastic as the water pressure regulators and they're splitting and squirting all over the place. 3 very bad reviews at my local hardware store....so won't be wasting time and money. I'm not paying $270 for something made in Sweden that if a part breaks, you're stuffed. Nothing like putting together it yourself with quality parts and reasonable cost. Thanks ....took many notes. This has been a great series. Very helpful.Since you raised the pots up off the surface, you could even bring the tubes up throught the bottom of the pot so that it is even less noticeable, right? I'm thinking if you lined them all up against the railing, with the main line between the pots and the rail, then ran the tubes up through the bottom, you'd hardly even see it.

This is incredibly helpful. This is my first year gardening and I have about 4 huge planters and 4 medium pots. I’m not sure I’m growing enough to warrant this investment, but we are going on holiday for almost 2 weeks in the middle of June and I know all my efforts would die if I don’t do something like this!

I have the same set up with 40 grow bags. Mine does not have the umbrella spray pattern as it should. Not sure if this is due to the amount of pots I have. It literally comes out as a bubble only watering in 1 area immediately around the emitter.

What is a good application for a dripper? I see people use them on trees and shrubs but is one dripper enough--as in does it bias the roots to one side? How far away from the base would you put it so that the roots grow outward? Setting up a RainBird system and they have those 1GPH drippers that I planned on putting to some Fragrant Tea Olives.

+Shawn Sullivan Drip irrigation is perfect for shrubs and trees because it can be placed under your mulch so you loose nothing to evaporation. They make the half inch pipe with the droppers already in it spaced properly.

I am just watering tomato plants in containers, and annual flowers in the ground - all on the same 1/2" tubing. I am using .5 gph emitters with 1/4" line to each plant with a drip emitter with a stake at the end of each line. I noticed it wasn't getting around the whole plant like I thought it should. Can I still use those .5 gph emitters with the bubblers? If so, can they remain the 1/2" tube, or do I need to move them to the end of the 1/4" tube just before the bubbler. I wish I had found your video before I put my system in! I am running my system for 1 hour each day.

How can you set this up for an apartment? There's no spigot available. I can't figure out how to be able to attach a hose to the faucet and attach the water supply to the drip? Trying to figure out a way that's easy for my 87 yr old mom. Watering by hand is too taxing for her.

Hi! Great video. I was just looking into building something almost identical as far as size and components. My difference is I need to pump water from a holding bin. I'm figuring on 18 spots and would need to water about 6 cups at each spot around every other day. But I cant figure what size pump? Should I use some kind of backflow blocker and pressure release valve? Thanks in advance for any help

With the constant water for your plants, you may want to consider a trough system under all your plants to collect and divert water into lawn or better yet another plant on your lawn below. This may prevent your wooden deck from having water damage creating another problem of needing to replace rotted wood decking. Your video was excellent! Thank you!

I’ve been researching on the best way to use a drip line on my pots. I am no longer a fan of the those emitters you used, I feel like it waters to fast and to much and ends up on the floor really quick. I’m thinking about trying the 1/4’’ tubing with the emitter already on them and spaced out every 6’’ and cutting it into a circle. But I’m not sure if I’ll have that same issue as the other emitter. Ugh I’m breaking my head trying to figure out the best emitters for my yard.

I have an issue with these emitters, they tend to water fast enough to run out the bottom and leave dry spots, and the entire pot bottom is wet, but the top gets dry. I'm not sure if this is normal behavior if I were to just use a slow 1hr drip emitter system at .5gph with two or three emitters. These bubblers tend to put out a lot of water at once. Have you by chance changed your system?

Does your clock have multiple zones? Unfortunately, that is the solution. Break the zone in half and have two or more connections on the clock.

This was a comment below from Calvin 2 months ago: The reason I tossed this type of system is because as you can see in the end of your video the plants at the end of the "chain" are getting less water and less distributed water. It's just kind of fountaining out straight up then down. My comment: This is the problem that I was having as well. My first row of pots do well but the others are not getting the same amount of pressure (barely at all). Why is this do you know? Thanks.

I can't say for sure but logic tells me to take the regulator off or put in a higher pressure one also would like to know how much the system leaks from the barbs going into the tubing and how much it leeks from the end of the tube that's crimped

How often do you have to clean out the screen filter in the regulator? Also, my local Home Depot sells a variety of sprinkler styles like a button dripper, mister, bubbler, jet sprayers, and drip hose. I really like the style you are using because it can accommodate for any soil type since its adjustable, plus you can see if its working or clogged.
