@@nielshermansen3299 yeah lights work fine. Even better than before. You do have to switch to a 12V system. One of the wires (I think it was yellow) is your supply. Connect that to the main wire of the loom and it should work as before

This video was great. Help me alot. Im building a fs1 with a rd80mx engine malossi 93 cc big bore and hpi 210 and been having the same issue with weak spark when cold. So might try the hpi weight kit.
@VintageGarageYT2 жыл бұрын
I was also thinking about that, but I kinda like the fast throttle response. Not sure how much you loose with the extra weight. It ends up starting ok now. And when hot if it doesnt start easily, a push start usually get its going within a meter or so.

@@VintageGarageYTthank you , i will. Could you please me help me with another question? The site address also has some interesting pieces. I'm asking if you can help make the connection to the lights, horn and brake light circuit. My motorcycle (Gilera Trial 50 - 5V from the same date of this beautiful RD), has no batteries, regulators or other electronic components. It's a rudimentary system I think only 3 wires come out of the actual flywheel and one of them is for the lighting circuit switch or the other two are from the high coil I calculate. In addition to changing the lamps to 12Volts I will have to buy a 12Volts regulator, if necessary, how will I make the connections? Thanks a lot
@VintageGarageYT2 жыл бұрын
@@eduardodias4661 12V out of a 70s bike? Are you sure? Stock systems from that era have 6V systems. What colour wires are coming from the engine? Try to get the bike running and grab a multimeter. Usually 1 wire is the power (6V) and one of them is to shut the bike off (usually black). Connect that one to ground and the bike should turn off. Usually (but depending on your bike) the light switch will take the 6V from the engine and when switched on, will comnect that 6V to another wire. Wire those your lights and connect the ground wire on the lights to the frame. You can do the same thing for the horn. I actually have a video on the electricals off this bike on the channel! You can check it out
@edw6702 жыл бұрын
@@VintageGarageYT maybe i did not well explain. My Gilera is 6v but if i install the hpi 2-ten Will produce 12volts, correct? That is the reason why i don't know how to Wire the Yellow Wire that is on the. Kit to have lights and horn on the moped. Thank you
@VintageGarageYT2 жыл бұрын
Ah yes, if you're using the HPI 2Ten, you will have 12V. So you will have to change your light bulbs and horn for 12V versions. The yellow wire is indeed power for lights and horn. I just connected that to my existing wiring loom where the original power was connected. If you have to make you own wiring, connect the yellow wire to one side of the switch and connect the other side of the switch to your lights. You can test switches with a multi meter to see where it makes a connection in the 'ON' position. Make sure the fittings of your lights are connected to the ground (usually the frame) and these should work. For the horn you can do the same thing. Most switches on mopeds have different connections (1 to connect the power, 1 to connect the lights, 1 to connect to a horn, ...). But that depends on your type of switch. Then connect the wire for your horn to the + terminal on your horn and the other one to the ground.

I like it. Picked up power over the entire rpm range and gained a lot of throttle response. Not sure if the difference will be as big with a 250 though.
@Endrjo2 жыл бұрын
@@VintageGarageYT probably it should be too. ignition time is always the same with CDI. How did you solved problem with hard cold start? It was related just with choke on/choke off? Did you installed DC rectifier to charge battery or it works in AC mode? DC always produce stronger spark.
@VintageGarageYT2 жыл бұрын
@@Endrjo On this bike the power on the spark does not go through the battery. Straight from the coils. So currently not running with a battery and/ or rectifier. CDI timing has a curve instead of being fixed like points. I also got a CDI with 2 curves, but have not got around testing it.

@VintageGarageYT2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! This is the one: www.jmpbparts.com/micrometer-sparkplug-hole.html If you do buy there definitely let them know I sent you! How it works: Rotate the 'top half' to the middle of the threads and loosen the screw that holds the center shaft. Rotate the engine so the piston is at top dead center. The center shaft be pushed up a little by the piston. Tighten the screw again so the shaft is fixed. Then rotate the engine until the piston is behind top dead center. Then you can rotate the 'top half' section. It has indications on there. 1 full rotation is 1mm. So you rotate the top half piece 2 rotations inwards. Then rotate the engine until the piston hits the center shaft. That's the point where you have to put the rotor on. Let me know if you further questions! 😁
