One thing I did is I downloaded Android auto on my phone and it works on the head unit with out the dongle that they want you to buy. Does everything you showed. I also use the easy connect app. I need to get the screen lock figured out. All in all I like this head unit . I'm old but I'm figuring this thing out.

Are you sure...I have an Atoto A6(non pro) without that USB dongle and when using android auto my phone screen does not lock it just displays a mirror image. Then when the phone locks I get the same lock screen on the head unit. So I have to keep messes with my phone, and then I have to orientate my phone to show it correctly on the head unit. Am I missing something? I do have a Samsung A20 and it worked the same on my previous phone

We haven't tried to get it to work wirelessly yet so can't provide input on it. I know it works very well with the cable connection.

@@TheSundaeDrive No I am not referring to Wireless...I am just referring to plugging in the phone via USB directly to the head unit without the ATOTO AC-CPAA48 adapter. The original comment states he does not use the adapter and it works the same way as you show in the video. I beg to differ. Without that adapter using just USB direct and the Easy Connect App this just mirrors your phone. If his works differently I would like to know. I want to buy the adapter but it is $60 and if he says it works the same without out then I would like to know how and save some money.

For android auto you dont need any additional hardware to purchase. I used Head unit reloaded app and it works great.

Wanted to install the A6 pro in my 2010 Silverado (standard double din with buttons and XM). My question is if I buy the radio, wanting to use Apple CarPlay, do I need to buy anything else? I’ve looked into pioneer and it has an extra $120 just for a wire harness adapter kit to make the install easier but I’m an hvac tech so if I have to strip and match the wires coming out of the unit, I’m fine with that. Just needed to know if it will be a decent fit and easy(ish) install.

We have an installation guide for a 2004 Silverado on the channel and a full walkthrough of the unit and will which should help answer some of your questions! You will need the dongle shown in this video to get carplay to work. There is also the sa102 unit (which we also have a full review on) that has car play built in but not as many overall features.

Usually if i have the radio playing and connect my phone to Apple CarPlay the radio will continue working unless I play music on my phone. Sometimes if the radio stops I just need to hit the home button and open the radio app again. The radio usually works even when using Google Maps on my phone

If you want to use Apple CarPlay then yes, the phone needs to be plugged in with a USB cable. However, ATOTO is releasing a new headunit that has wireless CarPlay so you won’t need the cable. Once they release it we should be able to make a video about it

I'm not sure on fitment, I would look around on the forums or take out your existing unit. It is a standard double din size but you need to make sure you have enough depth. Steering wheel controls will require an interface that will allow you to communicate to the vehicle. Watch our dodge ram sa102 video where we add steering wheel controls to a similar head unit

Yes, you should be able to use your phone independently while using Android Auto

You can download Android Auto apk directly to the headunit using a browser. You then use a Wi-Fi hotspot to then have a wire free solution. This bypasses the need to have specified phones. I run the exact setup without issue.

Good advice! I like that idea. Probably the most reliable, other than the fact that I need to turn on my WiFi hotspot on my iPhone everytime. I used to use Tasker on my Note 4 to automatically turn on a WiFi hotspot back in the day when connecting to my Nexus 7 tablet that I installed in my car as a head unit replacement.

The main benefit is that you don’t need to go through the effort of tethering it and it will receive your texts. Tethering is also a perfectly fine solution. I do that sometimes too

just curious, are you running an android or iphone? I know android can get a little more power hungry when multiple apps are left open. try closing some of the apps you aren't using and see if that helps. Pete's iPhone has been able to maintain a charge but iPhones run a little more efficiently sometimes.

There is a way to add car play to a 2014 silverado but to use this ATOTO system, you would need to change the entire head unit. I will be making a video showing how to add car play to the truck at some point in the future but it is not inexpensive.

I believe this is a limitation of this unit requiring an App Android Auto to run. Because mine works the same way when playing Android auto you can not listen to the internal AM/FM radio.

I used to be able to make calls from google assistant and this feature was disabled by google on all devices that are not phones. This seems like a Dick move so people use android auto I think we need to petition google to bring back this feature.

Wired and Bluetooth are the reason you can be in maps on the radio and play KZbin or whatever on your phone.. And is why you can't with the iPhone.. But I believe (maybe) if you do both with the iPhone, you may be able to.. Never tried it.. But I do know that's why you can for Android, I asked in a forum to verify ..
