Just wanted to say thank you. I’m on my third GS in 12 years. They are timeless, and my favorite car. I’ve always had double din head units in four years of owning this one I haven’t touched anything on the audio. and had a connect at Carson Toyota where I was able to get the oem Toyota double din plate and mounts from Japan, But now have been unsuccessful because I think Toyota stopped making them. This is literally the cleanest modern look you can get without any major modification, and since watching this I have placed an order for mine. Thanks again brother 🤙🏻

Just in case someone might not know: installers use a bundled cable called 9 wire. It has 4 channels worth of speaker wire plus an extra one for amp remote signal. Saves a lot more space than running 4 passes of bulky speaker wire over to the factory harness.

Would be good from trunk to the rear of head unit, this method as shown is good as the wire can be virtually purchased any where vs the 14,16,18-9 not carried in to many places

I have not made a video, I ended up selling the silver gs300, on my wide body I do have a 10" alpine type S sub in the factory deck location, it fits with no mods just make sure you add rtv

No the subwoofer will no longer be operational, the alternative I did was upgrade the woofer and install a aftermarket amp, I never got a round to installing the camera since the car sold

Gs400 would be the same process, with this method you are canceling out the factory amplifier that's also means you lose audio to the factory sub, on this silver gs300 I added an aftermarket amplifier and replaced the factory subwoffer with a alpine 10in subwoffer, the 10in fits perfect in the factory location and handles more power

Sorry for the late reply, but installing a sub is just like any other head unit, you need an amplifier for your sub and obviously a sub in a box and a amplifier wiring kit wich contain all the wire to get the amp powered on and rca cable that run from head unit to amp, on the headunit there is a rca out put labeled sub, that's where you land the rca for the amp

I ran wires from the new radio to the speaker input plug at the amp, older cars did not have amp just a radio wich is why all the speaker wires were at the rear of the radio, in the lexus they only go to the amp wich is why I had to run new wires from the new radio to the speaker/amp plug

I bought a 99 gs300 but the wiring is all messed up from a previous owner. The speaker wires arenall missing. There is a blue plug and a orange plug attached to a white thing on the left side of the blower motor but the orange plug has nothing plugged in, i was wondering if the speaker wires are supposed to be plugged in there. Congratulations, I've only had a gs400 for a few months most of my long term gs have been 300s with inline 6s (2jz) the (1uz) has been known to be very reliable as long as you up keep it .

It's defenatly louder, in my wide body, I have avh4400 with 2 10" alpine type S the head unit puts out good enough highs with the oem speakers, the oem amp mainly drives the oem sub woofer

Unfortunately you lose the sub function, the sub is powered by the oem amp when adding aftermarket head unit your eliminating the oem amp along with sub, on my wide body gs300 I added a aftermarket amp and replaced the oem sub with a 10" alpine type s sounds 10 times better than stock

Different purposes, on my Wide body I have a front facing camera pointing down, this allows me to see how far away my front lip is from a curve before I lower the car to the floor, on my raptor, ford put it in the grill so when your climbing a steep hill and your pointing to the sky the camera will point down or leveled so you can see the terrain or what at the top of the hill when you physically can't, but you can use it in any way you want

Yes but you will need to to buy a non navigation model climate control and then follow the way I did it from there on. The climate is built into the navigation unit on your model at the time

The 2gs had 3 diffrent variations of harness and radios, my amp output to the speakers is located at the amp behind the glove box not the rear of the stock head unit wich is why I did it how I did and has worked on several cars I've done in the past

Unfortunately there is no direct harness for our cars, I went into lengthy detail on this video to give viewers like you the confidence to do it, I understand many are a bit scared of electrical but if you follow this video you should be successful just be sure to dissconnect the ground terminal from battery prior to starting

They look the same color but different thickness the light green behind the radio is thiner and that just tells the radio to dim when the headlights turn on, if you don't connected the brightness will be the same day or night lights on or off, the light green by the stock amp is 1 of the wires leading to door speaker

Unfortunately you lose the rear subwoofer when doing aftermarket radio on these GS

Ricardo Wade turns out you can tap the wires from sub to one of the speakers then you gain the sub but nothing too deep

There is no way to to wire the aftermarket radio to the factory amp and the stock sub is wired to the amp so that's the reason, you can wire the door speakers directly to the radio and they are actually louder than with the stock amp you can get a amp to run the stock sub or just replace the stock sub with one in a box

It had to be shaved a bit, I did it using a grinder with a flap disk, sorry I havnt updated a video but easy to do there is a metal support just shave the plastic trim until even with the metal support

It's been a while since I've messed with it, but I belive its just normal 2 way bluetooth, it will still tell you the name of the track on the screen and you can can change tracks back and foward, directly from the radio

It's just a wire nothing special about if that that's what you are asking as for grounding location any chasis metal is a ground, o grounded behind the glove box

@@andrewgerena5447 I'm not sure since it was some months back, I belive it was possibly a 16guage you can look at the wires on the radio harness and it should state what guage that is, i would go 1 guage lowere than what the radio is for example if the radio wore is 16awg I would run a 14awg.
