I have iMac El Capitan. There are some newer apps like Telegram, etc. I want. I downloaded Telegram, no problem. But it won't launch--to "Open" the area is "Grayed out" and a slash through it, wanting me to open it with another application. I have no other way. I assume my MacOS is too old. Should I go to App store and download the Monterrey version, as the only way I can see to fix this Telegram problem, and getting other items as well?

If you have another apple device (like a phone or ipad) purchase the app on a newer model device first and then follow his steps. I did that just a few minutes ago. I first downloaded the pages app to my ipad, then signed into my app store account on my old mac and downloaded the older version. It worked perfectly.

@@audreybraggs7567 Thanks for sharing! I did that immediately, but I only got IOS versions. I also clicked "install" in the hope the Store would offer the Mac OS version, but to no avail! However since then I have installed a Linux Mint system with very good results! The system is much faster!
