For people who aren't that much into painting, but like creating with node graphs, or need to make seamless materials for environments and such, Material Maker is an excellent (free and open-source) procedural texturing program. I use it a lot working as a 3D artist in game dev.

For example, the program crashes if you try to use an image texture in the brush nodes as a brush mask. *5. I need your help. Im one the step where he does this v8 thing i don't have that like you said it's no longer needed, but when i run this command after that ..\armorcore\Kinc\make --from ..\armorcore -g direct3d11 it only says Creating Windows project files and nothing else. And i don't have an ArmorPaint.sln

@@whysoloco Compiling version 1.0 alpha has not been possible for several weeks. So compiling version 0.9 is necessary (see point 5). For this version, an addition must be added in the first step (git clone): "--branch 23.08". Then you actually get the v8, you can unpack it and compiling works. Please try again exactly according to the instructions for 0.9. Then it should work.

The start problem is a known issue since several weeks. I think the programmer will fix this soon. My current version - 1.0 alpha (2024-02-12) - has the same start problem. But I can start armorpaint with 20-30 clicks. And I can start my version with a simple start script. I found this script on the github issue page (issue number 1678). /armory3d/armortools/issues/1678 Please note: This is a closed issue. The script is from "SiKo117". Please note: The script starts with "@" and ends with ")" I copied the script into a .txt file --> changed .txt to .bat --> copied the .bat file into the folder with the armorpaint.exe --> created a shortcut for the .bat file on my desktop 🙂

7:49 i dont have all the extra stuff you have in this folder, just armorpaint exe, lib, exp and pdp. ive followed each step exactly, also cant open the exe even after clicking 50 times

I just successfully compiled armorpaint. However, the starting problem still exists. With the recommended script I can start armorpaint with about 4 clicks. That's about 400 starting attempts. My script settings: "wait_time=0.2" and "max_runs=100" 🙂

Everything worked like a charm until i tried to start armorpaint from krom. I compiled it successfully, had no problems with the shaders. but sadly nothing is happening when i try to start it. i just see a small loading ican and thats it. Am i missing some more requirements to use it after a succesful build? I thank you for your guide, even though it is not working for me.

I'm having the same issue happening to me currently checking the task manager shows that it starts for a fraction of a second and then quits itself, no clue what's going on but I'll update here if i figure it out

@@3dmundo The idea of the git hub page for 0.9 was obvious. But: the git clone command there needs to be changed. The git clone command specified there was once correct. But now "--branch 23.08" has to be added after --recursive. *...--recursive --branch 23.08 htt...* Then it must work. Without the addition, the latest code (1.0 alpha) is cloned and there is actually no v8 left in it.

when I execute "..\armorcore\Kinc\make --from ..\armorcore -g direct3d11" i get an error "project.js file not found" it then compiles g1.frag and g1.vert. in other words I only compile 2 of the shaders. any ideas? just found the project file in the wrong folder, not sure why

I just successfully compiled armorpaint version 1.0 alpha (2024-03-30). However, the starting problem still exists. With the recommended script I can start armorpaint with about 3 clicks. That's about 300 starting attempts. My script settings: "wait_time=0.2" and "max_runs=100" 🙂

Installation completed without any issues, but when I click on the exe file (which was moved to the 'krom' folder), nothing happens. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Have you found a solution?

Your armorpaint file is OK. The file name extensions are displayed for you, that's good. The armorpaint file is in the krom folder but doesn't start? Use the recommended script. Where the script can be found and how to use it is in the comments here. Get in touch if it doesn't work.

This problem has been going on for a few weeks. Armorpaint.exe can only be started after 50-150 startup attempts. The only solution is to use a script. Where the script can be found and how to use it is described in detail here in the last comments.

@@NicholasAfari-Mintah It looks like a file is missing to compile. This can happen if the cloning didn't work properly. Cloning the armortools folder must not abort with an error message. The armortools folder should be just under 4GB. *I would rename the existing armortools folder and restart again.* Compiling should work fine with the video. Be sure to take *the instructions for 23.08 + add “--branch 23.08”* to the git clone command. Further details are also available in the *PDF file.* I hope it works in the second attempt.

Cloning 0.9 (23.08) onto the PC should work without any problems. Cloning the 1.0 alpha hasn't worked for me for weeks. Yesterday it broke off for me 5 times. Have you already read my comment “Current tips for compiling the program (2024-06-06)”? The PDF file contains even more detailed instructions on how to get the program onto your PC without any problems. Try again, maybe it will work on the second attempt.

@@Ivan-bk9xs The actual painting is better but everything else can now be mirrored in Blender with addons. I actually bought Amorpaint years ago because I wanted to support the developer and hoped it would turn into something good but the dev was more interested in making Android and IOS apps than improving the main software so it's made barely any progress in years. You're much better of looking at something like InstaMat or 3DCoatTextura. InstaMat is free too as long as you are solo and give attribution.
