Thank you! I haven’t experienced any issues in controlling the aircraft to date. In fact I’ve found myself wishing the mission I was flying in Pilot 2 was in ATAK quite a few times recently. There’s just so many options at your fingertips when using the UAS software inside the ATAK ecosystem🔺

Good day!! I was going through your videos on how to install ATAK, and noticed that by the time I got around to it, the version changed from 5.1.0 to 5.2.0 and there is no longer a box for he UAS Tool kit. Also, unless I am blind, I can not find the link to download the elevation data. I can find the old version (5.1.0) and go that route, I guess?

I noticed that as well. You now have to download a file that is I believe a WPX codec. I’m not sure why, some have said it’s something to do with the Google play store. Last week I worked with a PD to get them up and running. Sent them the APK UAS tool to integrate into ATAK. The UAS version I sent over was 5.12 I believe and it ran fine for them with the 5.2 ATAK software 🔺

Any way to get the matrice 300 smart controller to work? App just crashes. I was told the controller just doesn't have the resources. I'd like to not have to purchase the rc+ if I don't have to.

I did some research and it appears that you can get it to run on the smart controller. This video is with an M2E aircraft and using the smart controller kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWSrdX5jls2el68si=CkWTg9bV_5VXy6gq You should be able to especially since that’s an enterprise model controller and UAV. Try following the steps in the tutorial and get the latest software from Tak.gov. I had a similar issue and it was a software version being incompatible with DJIGoV5. Let us know how it goes! 🔺

Interesting. I haven’t tried that yet but I’d imagine that since you can get a laptop to function as a ground control unit in the same server as the mobile devices. There must be a way to pull the aircraft feed for the person operating the laptop. I’ll do some research and get back to you. 🔺

@@Skynetdronesystems Hey again brother, I managed to get ahold of a DJI Mini 4 Pro with the DJI RC 2 controller. the menu structure to get to settings is different than the video but i managed to get to the install step for ATAK. it gave me an error sying the user isnt allowed to install apps. After some google'in I think its because the RC 2 controlled doesnt llow you to install 3rd party apps. Do you know anything bout this? What controller are you using?

Good to hear from you again! I used the enterprise DJI RC PRO that came with the Mavic 3T. I know that even the standard RC PRO (non enterprise edition) has issues installing some 3rd party software. If you’re using DJIGoV5 try switching it to DJIGo. I know that some RCs block the installation of 3rd party software. I’m not familiar with how the RC 2 is designed in that respect. However I do know that you can get an Android tablet or phone to run it with that aircraft. With some of our older aircraft I use Android tablets then activate a hotspot on my phone or tablet to connect to. That way if you do need to purchase a device at least you’re not having to pay a monthly fee to have it active. I hope that helps, however I wouldn’t give up on the RC 2 running it yet either. There might be a way to get it installed on that platform without having to purchase any new equipment. Let us know what you find! 🔺

Yes, instead of using ATAK GoV5 use ATAK Go. ATAK GoV5 is only for enterprise Enterprise aircraft. Change the detection platform to DJI and keep the DJI app open 🔺

@@Skynetdronesystems Just did what you told me and it almost work perfectly. On DJI detecting platform i was able to see thru cam and move it. However i was t able to fly now xD. To fix this i deleted DJI Fly app and now everything works perfect. thanks :)

@@MarCin-lk8xxoutstanding! You should be able to have the FLY app installed and just set the default platform to NONE in your remote settings. BUT either way at least you got it working!!! I like using ATAK along with the Go software more than I do the standard DJI flight software for sure! 🔺

That’s a great question. Unfortunately I don’t have a definitive answer for you. I recently ran an exercise using ZeroTier as a VPN while running ATAK and the UAS plugin tool. However we were operating inside a TAK server while using ZeroTier. 🔺

I wish I had a more definitive answer for you. I can say that ZeroTier runs great with ATAK and the UAS as a VPN without any issues. Let us know if you have any luck with ZeroTier as a peer to peer option with the UAS! 🔺

You mean in the center of the display, the reticle doesn’t display the GPS coordinates as it moves over the terrain? To my knowledge you’d have to drop a POI point of interest by clicking to add it to the map. That would display the the coordinates directly when dropped onto the map. 🔺

After initiating the UAS plugin and logging into either ATAKGo or ATAKGoV5 when you return to ATAK and the UAS Plugin, on the right hand side of your screen you’ll see the blacked out UAV feed. In the top left hand corner of that blacked out screen you’ll see a triangular PLAY button. If you click that it should play the feed from the aircraft. Let us know if that fixes the issue. 🔺

@Skynetdronesystems unfortunately it is still not working. I am using a DJI air2s. Do you think it may be the drone itself? On my DJI app it works fine. On ATAK I have all flight controls just no video feed. I am also using atak GO5. Used I just be using atak go?

Yes, use ATAKGo not ATAKGoV5. The V5 I believe is exclusively made for enterprise series drones. You should be good to go once switching to ATAKGo 🔺

Are you using ATAKGo or ATAKGoV5? If you’re using the Mavic 3 with the RC-N1 try using ATAKGo instead of ATAKGoV5. Is the device you’re running ATAK on that’s attached to the RC-N1, Android or IOS? Sometimes it’s the little things like: Have you hit the play icon when you return to UAS tool after using ATAKGoV5 or ATAKGo? If that doesn’t fix it let me know! 🔺

When you return to the UAS tool from ATAKGoV5, on the black screen where the battery info displays in the top right. If you look to the left, in that same window, there should be a white triangular “play” button. That’s how you normally turn on and off the camera feed from the aircraft. Did you do the installation of both the UAS tool and ATAK from TAK.Gov? Having those versions compatible initially is the most import part of the whole process. I know it can be frustrating to get this up and running. BELIEVE me. But it’s worth it once it is🔺

If the aircraft and controller are not enterprise models, use ATAK Go instead of ATAK GoV5. Then change the following below in settings. Go to 4:22 in the video In settings change the auto start application to NONE in regards to your flight software (DJI FLY etc). Then you can select between ATAK Go and your standard flight software depending on your mission needs 🔺

We’ve been experimenting with adding meshtastic modules to the UAVs to increase long range off grid coms. I’m not sure if that would be beneficial in the circumstances you mentioned above. However it’s a fantastic way for someone looking to extend their long range communication abilities in emergency services/situations. If it’s something people are interested in, we can cover that in the near future for sure. 🔺

Yes you are 100% good to go running ATAK and the UAS tool on that aircraft and controller combination. It’s the exact the same instal procedure using the tutorial above. 🔺

I can’t say with 100% confidence since I haven’t loaded the software onto the M30 yet. But from what I’ve read, both the M30 and the RC plus will run the software without any issue. DJI tends to let 3rd party software run on the enterprise edition aircraft. Since the RC Plus is a designated enterprise controller, you should have no problem running ATAK and the UAS plugin. In fact you should be able to follow this tutorial for the M30 as well. Let us know how it works out! 🔺
