How to install backup camera (07 Santa Fe)

In this video we install a wire-less backup camera in a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. Install is not very hard, total time for install is about 1.5 hrs depending if you have done any car audio before. This unit or camera have sensors.

no problem, glad it can help you out. Yes the android unit is still running smooth, I love it. Sound quality is good, running stock speakers, no amp or sub. It does have a built in EQ as well. Since you have google play you can also download any music app you may want. I have two of these units, one in the Santa Fe and the other in my vw gti. Some of the newer wireless transmitter kits have a built in trigger wire so folks don't have to go hunting down the trigger wire in the car harness.

Greath Video,i have a question about The RED plug without the dimming rear mirror ,i dont have a Blue wire, any sugestions where to lock for the reverse signal ( 2006),thanks

Your best way would be to run a cable to the hatch side and plug straight into the reverse light. Also try doing a search as the wires will be located in the trunk area just a metter of finding the location so its seasier than going straight to the hatch.

Yes it does support android auto, not sure about apple play. You can also use the easyconnection which does the same however better in my opinion as you can mirror your phone and control it.

I have had so much trouble with this project. 1st. I have a 2009 Santa fe. The Manuel says nothing about using the radio for a backup camera. Is mine set up for that? Is there a video for taking out the radio speaker? Also at the backup light can can not get the camera lights to come on from splicing into the wires. Is that possible hook in back there off the back up light wires? Do I need a special ground?

You might be able to add a camera to your oem radio however if the unit is not the "premium" unit that is enabled for that then you can't. You should be able to find a video on how to access your door speakers, I have not done that yet so I dont have a video for that. For the camera you can splice right into the positive side for power and it would be best to ground it to the hatch like I did. For non wireless, you will need to run a video cable from the unit to the camera. Sorry for the late reply as I just got the notification now. Anything else let me know.

I just added a 2.4gHz camera and there is so much interference it is basically unusable. In areas with minimal buildings / cars it works a treat but any where else it flickers and constantly craps out... Do you have a mod to make the connection more stable? I might just take the whole thing out and hard wire.... I live in the burbs so it's not even city levels of interference. In the city it is useless

Unfortunately the best way is to hard wire. I'm surprised how much interference you're getting but now most devices are wireless. The hardest part for the harwire is to run the video and power cables up into the hatch door. Let me know how it goes. On another note, what head unit do you have in yours?

@@esqu3l3to For a while I was debating the whole Chinese Android head unit but in the end I went with a Boss. Wanted to have decent customer service, Didn't want to have to debug too much. I got the wireless cam to make the install and my life easier but now it seems like it'll be double the work. It looks like the one you have. The only thing I guess I did different is on the head unit side I have the red tapped into the front camera wire vs ACC+ but shouldn't make a difference I don't think....

Ah ok, I am actually going to be installing a new head unit. A kenwood dmx706s, this android unit still works fine but I want better sound besides I use android auto so everything is on my phone which means I don't have to update the unit every so often. Will be doing a video on that install here soon enough when I have all the parts.

@@esqu3l3to The seller of the camera claims it is a power issue though I am not totally convinced since it works fine in the sticks... Do you know if there is a constant source of power in the hatch area? The transmitter is tapped into the reverse light power now.

All the lights will have power except they are controlled by switches, the other one I can't think may have constant 12v would be the rear wiper arm.

Why is it important to connect that reverse cable ?

Its important as its what activates the head unit to go into reverse mode (input). That is why the head unit will only swith to rear camera input when the car is placed on reverse.

Correct, I basically extended the input wire to reach the wire in the fuse box where I found the reverse signal.

The Black lead from the camera to Ground and the Red Camera Lead and Red Trigger Wire on the AV cable to the Reverse Light Positive (Blue) wire? At the Head Unit the AV plugs in and the Red trigger wire connects to the "Rear or Reverse wire?

Black to chassis ground, red (positive) to reverse light positive side, this way it powers the camera only when placed in reverse. On the radio side, black to ground and positive to the "reverse" wire or backup camera wire

sounds like its on mirrored mode, check your camera settings in the radio and switch to "normal" view.

The camera is a cable, not wireless

ok so in that case it could be the camera itself maybe the cable. I recomend trying a different video cable and see if that fixes the issue.
