Good Job. The Cork Tape doesnt last more than 4 rides for me, so I have been avoiding it (Tried 3x). The Direction of the wrap does matter with regard to the wrap being torqued by your hands. If wrapped in the wrong direction, it will become loose over time. The Direction you used is the correct way. I usually start my tape byinserting about an inch of tape into the bars and then start wrapping very tightly and this ensures a very neat plug end, and you wont have to fight as much with the plug.. Ill post a pic of my latest tape job using the traditional plug (Insert type) on my profile here in a minute.

Never thought about the tightening and or loosening of the tape.

Thanks for the video. I’m terrible at installing bar tape. This will help.

08:20....click the shifter and the barrel inside will turn (look closely and you'll see it) revealing the cable end lodged inside the holding socket

I did try to shift all the way up and down, thinking at some point the barb would be able to be pulled out, but that never really seemed possible. I don't know, I should search a video on it.

@@BruceChastain If you look underneath the shifter you will see a little screw. Undo the screw and it will release a panel exposing all the inner barrel and cable. I believe this 'door' is their to give entrance if a broken cable end gets trapped in there.

Except you should start at the top of the handlebars, where you usually use tape. Overlap one wrap at the beginning to hold tape in place, and finish down at the drops with the expander plug. You dont use any electrical tape, just bar tape and it looks much cleaner. You can see videos showing you how to wrap around the shifter to maintain the correct wrap direction, which matters. Keep making great videos!

thanks Josh! I know about that method, I've done it before, but I'm still 50/50 on which I prefer.
