Stupid question Why do you need an "amplifier" why cant you connect the speakers directly to the desktop ?

These bookshelf speakers are passive meaning they don’t have amp built into them so if I hook them up without a amp it would be very quiet/poor sounding so hooking them up with a amp gives them more power for best sound possible

How do you get the subwoofer connected to the amp along with the speakers?

You have to get an amplifier that has a subwoofer out. Check if your sub is passive or active. Then get an Aiyima amplifier.

I purchased the Klipsch Cinema Reference 5.1.4 Dolby Atmos system yesterday but my receiver is 10 years old plus the subwoofer doesn’t seem to work so I’m returning it 🤦🏾🤷🏾
