How to Install Boots on Plug Wires

If you're trying to install boots on plug wires (cut-to-fit style) and are having a tough time, this video shows how I (finally) got mine installed.

Thankyou for this tip! Helped get my 90° boot on, but now it's stuck flush with the end, and I need to get alittke more out to crimp, and push back in..

You can use a pick to lift the edge of the boot and squirt some penetrating oil in there to get it to slide a little easier.

hello, i just installed them on my v8 engine and the grey boots are straight and are touching the headers, will that be a problem? also, can you bend the straight boots to be in angle?

In my experience, if the boots are touching the headers it is always going to be a problem. The boot can’t be bent, you have to buy angled boots. I have seen them available in 45° at 90° bends.

I have not tried the MSD wire so you may be right about that. The ones I have tried in the past were not bendable.

If your going to pull it back into the boot why bother...? Just crimp it and push it in....???

The after market boots are too tight and not flexible enough for that. I ended up re using the stock GM boots that I luckily hadn't thrown away.
