I think 752 of the views are from me trying to figure it out, but I finally got and it looks amazing!

Two suggestions on your leather handlebar wrap, black cable housing and most important instead of crappy black electrical tape use heat shrink for large electrical connections. You would need a heat gun or a powerful blow hair dryer to shrink it. A lot of people use the black electrical tape when shrink wrap would be so much better and cleaner. The cost might be 5 or 10 bucks for the large shrink wrap, it can be bought in small lengths on Amazon.

Great idea, I've never tried shrink wrap. As another idea to finish off the leather instead of electrical tape, I also like "whip tying" with twine and Elmer's glue or shellac to continue the use of natural materials like jute. Here's a great tutorial on how to whip tie: bit.ly/1LzA6ce. Happy riding!

I am switching out my flat bar for a set of drop handlebars. I know this would look good on my old classic "10 speed" road bike but I wonder if it would look good on a modern hybrid bike? For reference the new bike is a Schwinn GTX2.

Comfort is always in style. These wraps look great on any bike, but more importantly, they feel great while riding. -Geoff

Nice! Is it done with the electrical tape? I know It is the same way they use for normal grips but it can get messy over time. Do you recommend using a fine thread wrapped at the same place as the electrical tape? Thanks!

Hi Dirceu, great question! Yes, as an alternative to electrical tape to tie off the ends, we also recommend "whip tying" with twine and Elmer's glue or shellac. Here's a great tutorial on how to whip tie: bit.ly/1LzA6ce. Happy riding!

Hi! The details on the post will make it very easy for me to do it! Thanks for that!

I got lost too! It is beautiful though, but I can see myself screwing it all up, I would have to take it to an upholstery place because no bike shop would know how to do the wrapping either.

Excitement, excitement, excitement... Tape disappointment. Why offer such a lovely product and finish it with something so crappy? There's got to be something more quality and style appropriate.

I used electrical tape in this video because it's the easiest, but instead of electrical tape, I also like "whip tying" with twine and Elmer's glue or shellac to continue the use of natural materials like jute. Here's a tutorial on how to whip tie: blog.walnutstudiolo.com/2020/08/13/complete-leather-bar-wraps-with-natural-twine-jute-or-waxed-thread-for-a-vintage-finished-look/. There is no single right way to finish off handlebar wraps. The only limit is your imagination. Happy riding!
