Hello Grant, The leather handlebar grips are great for your old bike. You do this leather job lovingly and skillfully. When I see that he is making such leather products, I also aspire to make something from leather. Like wood, you are a good master in leather work. Congratulations. See you. I wish you a healthy and beautiful new week. Big greetings. Cheers buddy.

@middleclassic3 жыл бұрын
Don't do this often but went to the comments first so I'm clueless about LPI name which is why suggesting LPI as a band name just makes me think "Why"? Without any context walk up to someone and say "Leather Pricking Irons". They're going to look at you with that sideways dog head look. They might even respond "The hot dog in the pumpkin tree! Yeah, that's right! What else you got?!?" LPI is too random to work if you ask me. But don't stop trying ... seriously. Like jokes, they can't all be winners :-P

How have these held up? I'm considering doing the same but I'm not sure of the effect that sweat will eventually have on the leather.
@TheGrantAlexander Жыл бұрын
Sadly I never finished the restoration on this bike, so they have sat unused. I will say that there are lots of leather things that get sweat on and last without issue. I would say that gluing them in place would be a good idea

@CapitanAP9 ай бұрын
Good looking, but that stuff doesn't work properly. Grips are called grips for a reason, they need a... let's say, some grip. Leather itself is much more slippery than rubber compounds, multiply that by the fact that grips themselves turn around the handlebar (unless you fixed them in place in some way). You'll get extremely unstable handling, suitable only for slow, recreational cycling. Handlebars wraps used on dropbars can also be made of leather and are much better. Oh and that stitching kinda feels bad to the hand, it's pretty much impossible to find a position where stitches don't rub your palm, so it negates the ability of leather grips to be used without gloves
