I bought a puck with a split in the middle. That way I dont fold the pinch weld. It works really well, I think I paid 6 or 8 bucks for it on Ebay.

i think those are the deadly harbor freight jack stands that everyone is taking back and replacing... look it up.. they fail super easily. good thing you use the wheel under car method as an extra precaution but you're on borrowed time if you still use those stands.

Hi, what front grille is that? I’ve been trying to find a chrome, badge-less grill for what feels like forever. Only ones i’ve found so far online are black, matte black, lower chrome “u” trim, but none OE styled just without the badge. any help thanks i. advance

Yo. Where do you get your replacement front shocks and the model numbers? I'm having a helluva hard time finding shocks to replace the shocks. I gave 1A auto and parts geek my part number on my sock which looks like yours and they keep sending me the wrong ones. You have no links or part numbers to parts. Thanks for any input.

make sure you put your thumb in the strut spring while compressing it. /s for the record you can really fuck yourself up with one of those. if you open the compressors all the way after removing the top plate, the thing can basically explode. ask me how i know

@@Koreee777 i took the springs out of a v8 98 ford thunderbird strut assembly in a junk yard and it knocked the wind out of me when i reached the end of the thread removing the spring compressor after removing the retaining nut on top of the strut. the top plate shot straight up and hit my collarbone/chest and made a small cut in my skin. not the end of the world but could have been worse if it hit my face etc. The reason i took it apart is because those springs from that strut, along with the top plate (with some drilling, video soon) can be used on a 90s jeep cherokee to give a perfect 4" lift with a super super nice ride. i think i have a video up already of me struggling with coil compressors on a grand cherokee... i used them things like 20x trying out like 4 different donor jeep pairs before i finally settled on those v8 tbird coils. I might be wrong about the passat springs. they might not be under nearly as much loaded pressure as the tbirds were, but be careful nonetheless.

Question! If you’re only removing the suspension and not touching track rod ends etc; why would you need an alignment? Cheers!!

Like the new Harbor Freight Jack stands I bought earlier this year, they had a recall a few months later. People were hurt or killed because the welds were weak. I dont trust Jack stands with my life.

Your camera angles don't actually show which bolts you're removing. Good info but for those just learning this stuff (primarily me) knowing which actual bolts to remove is important. Like the other reviewers, thanks for the information. :)

18x8 et41 with 20mm spacers in rear and 15 up front. The wheels are actually oem vw wheels that come off a newer r-line Passat.
