Do you have a video showing how to transition from this to tile? The transition strips?

I don’t, you would basically use a t-molding though, hopefully the floors are the same thickness. If not, use an unequal t-molding

@@TeamHahnVlog Yes, I had got some Mohawk from Costco ("waterproof laminate). I actually was looking at your video for tips as I was having a really hard time. I spent a good part of the day doing a bunch of intricate (for me) cuts by the 2 doorways in the room and trying to lay it and I just could not get it to reliably snap together! It was infuriating. I tried several different techniques any many of the boards would not go together. The stuff you put down looked like it flexed more that what I have.... IDK. I had to cut my losses and am going to return the boxes that I did not open (I opened like 4 or 5 boxes). We got some much more expensive bamboo flooring from Home Depot (it hurt to pay that much more but I needed something 3/8 inches thick as I had already cut all of the door moldings) that my wife really liked and it is going together really well! I hope to finish it up tomorrow!

The stair nose has an overlap and is not seamless?
@TeamHahnVlog11 ай бұрын
Correct, that’s how most laminate is. Engineered and real hardwood have stair treads that are seamless with no overlap

Is there any sort of silicone or barrier that needs to be put around the outside of the flooring before the trim goes down?
@TeamHahnVlog11 ай бұрын
No, however a lot of times builders will caulk the bottom of the wall to the subfloor before any finish flooring is installed. Just the exterior walls

Some Questions: Do you have any advice on installing this flooring over ceramic tile? What is your favorite multi-tool and pry bar? Thanks!
@TeamHahnVlog3 ай бұрын
I wouldn't recommend going over the top of ceramic tile, but I get why one would want to, it's a pain to remove and there's a lot of prep that has to happen after its removed. If you do go over the top of it, just make sure its really flat and level using a laser and a straight edge to check for humps. I like my Rigid multitool because the heads can swap out to be a cut out tool(like a rotozip) or even a reciprocating saw. amzn.to/4e5ZysW For pry bars it depends on what I'm doing, I use an Estwing cats paw amzn.to/48ET6IF Stanley wonder bar amzn.to/4hppumy and stanley fat max wrecking bar amzn.to/48mghHc As far as flooring tools, I use a Roberts pull bar amzn.to/4fojmsV

Helps if you show the easiest way to put boards together. Do the slide in or just set?
@TeamHahnVlog Жыл бұрын
you have to position the board so the tongue on the end overlaps the groove on the end of the previous piece, without the tongue overlapping the finished top. The long side mostly clicks in but you will need to tap it some. Once the long side is clicked in, tap on the end to slide into the previous piece. Hope that makes sense! Sorry it wasn't more clear in the video, we were in a hurry to get the room done for inspection.

Like the whole floor or each individual piece?
@joecvids829 ай бұрын
@TeamHahnVlog when you reach the edge of the room your doing. Do you recommend something? Or just the molding and saddle
@TeamHahnVlog9 ай бұрын
@@joecvids82 just the molding. Once the whole floor is assembled there’s so much surface area between it and the subfloor that it shouldn’t move around. Sometimes it’s tricky to get that last row to lay flat if it’s narrow but you just gotta keep working it with the mallet and the pull bar
@jdmb0312 күн бұрын
It's a floating floor so no-need to lock down the last row.

What is the problem if the flooring is not laying flat? Thanks
@TeamHahnVlog Жыл бұрын
eventually the flooring pieces will come apart at the seams if it isn't flat because it will flex over and over again as people walk on it. You can get away with more variance than what the manufacturer recommends but I would still get the subfloor as flat as you can

How much did you pay per box? I am looking at some in California.. runs about $37 a box (about 17sqft of board). For my 10x12 room with closet I think I need 8 boxes maybe 9. I am also curious if the last row of boards are too wide to fit, I assume you run them thru the saw to shorten the width so they fit just right. The shim thing I am not clear on. If I get the last boards right up to the wall with about 1/4" or so spacing at most, the base boards we have (which it looks like you took yours off as well, mine are about 4" in height with a design on the top) would sit over the top and cover up the gap I assume? But you also don't want the boards shifting a slight bit.. so not sure if the hammering in you did locks them in once they are in position.
@TeamHahnVlog8 ай бұрын
It was just under 2 bucks a ft. Yeah the last row you will likely have to rip. The trim will cover the 1/4” expansion gap. The floor has enough friction to the subfloor to stay put, it’s called a floating floor when it’s not fastened down, all laminate floors are floating typically. Thanks for watching and good luck with your project!
@1904RICK1 Жыл бұрын
Your initial snap line did you measure off the wall?
@TeamHahnVlog Жыл бұрын
yes I did, you will want to measure on both walls to make sure they are parallel, if the walls are not parallel(or at least close like within 1/4") then you can split the difference to hide it

Questions; we have 6 dogs and live in Arizona, we only have concrete, not plywood - what do you recommend we do? There are cracks in the concrete as well, anything we need to do about this?
@TeamHahnVlog3 ай бұрын
@@ASchafer-p5q pretty sure you will need a vapor barrier, most flooring stores should be able to help you out with that. As far as the cracks, you’ll want to make sure it’s all level, use a laser for this to check the whole floor. I don’t remember the max it can be out, you’ll have to check the paperwork. A lot of times the concrete will be low or high at the crack and so you’ll need to prep the concrete and use some self leveler to fix it
