I have that same saw and after I let go of the trigger it doesn't stop nearly as fast as it did prior. That really fubared a trim piece I was working on.

Seems like you may need a better blade. The more teeth you have the better the cut and the faster the stop of the blade.

16 penny framing nails.

Looks more like 18 gauge to me, I use 18 finish nailer for most mounding these days. And the outside corner looked more like a smaller 23 gauge pin nailer. LOVE 23 gauge for when a fine finish nail is needed. NO filling nail holes with the pin nailer after.
