Do you measure the length of the hight and with of the moulding on the squares then just cut a 45 degree angle on them.? Love how it turned out going to try this out.

You mention this being budget friendly- I used a website to generate a quote for a kit including chair rain and frame boxes for a 13ft square room and it came out to almost $700. Is that comparable to your expense? That’s not even counting paint, primer, caulking.

The price has definitely gone up since we installed it (we did it back in March 2020 and lumber prices are now at an all time high). The blog post lists the exact chair rail and PVC trim we used. You can substitute different woods/mdfs based on availability and prices. thediyplaybook.com/how-to-add-chair-rail/

Hi, It looks so nice, im trying to do this in our baby room, but our walls have glass tissue (not sure if its the right english term) so we have a hard time getting the smooth wood look. How did you get the wall to be completely smooth and blank, so it all looks like wood?
@Thediyplaybook2 жыл бұрын
We have smooth drywall, so we didn't do anything to them since they were already smooth

I saw a video where you can use texture (modelling paste) on the area you want to panel. Apply a couple layers allowing to dry in between and the last layer, smooth with a wet sponge. This will give you a smooth finish. Not sure if I’m making much sense but I can’t find the video now.

What is the name of that valspar paint color? So pretty thanks for posting!
@Thediyplaybook3 жыл бұрын
I had it color matched to our built-ins, so it isn't a specific color by Valspar. But you can find the paint color formula in the blog post. I took a picture of the top of the can. thediyplaybook.com/how-to-add-chair-rail/

What paint was used was it a standard emulsion paint on both the woodwork and the walls as obv normally woodwork should be a solvent based or water based wood paint like eggshell or satin wood
@Thediyplaybook4 жыл бұрын
It's a water based paint in a satin finish.

Funny video. What do you do on the longer walls with the dado rail, are they cut to the right length or do you attach 2 pieces together and hide the join?
@Thediyplaybook4 жыл бұрын
Good question! I cut two pieces together and caulked the seam.

We have a cement wall, can we nail the rails on that? please advice
@Thediyplaybook4 жыл бұрын
No, I would only do this treatment on drywall or plaster.
@AadityaHardenia4 жыл бұрын
@@Thediyplaybook Thanks for the advice. Would that mean it wont work on brick and concrete wall?
@Thediyplaybook4 жыл бұрын
@@AadityaHardenia Yeah, I probably would just stick to drywall for this project!
