Thank you for this tutorial! I have watched others who immediately jump into nailing them to the wall, but don’t explain how to measure and cut!! Thank you for such a thorough video. Great job!

Thank you for creating a video that is so clear. I have watched so many videos and managed to do the chair rail in my bathroom since there were mostly inner corners that I had to use a coping saw on (which I could only understand after watching a British man explain it 😂). Following your advice, I now have 4 templates, 45 degrees left and right, and 22.5 degrees left and right. I can now understand what I am doing, especially since the room has many angles and corners. You are wonderful.

I have wall mouldings in my whole apt. and I had to paint them a different colour and the interior a different colour as well as the exterior of the mouldings another colour. This can add a lot of dimension to the room and adds a bit more glamour. It's just depends on your taste. I'm allergic to white, you can really transform a room by using rich colours. It depends if you want a modern look or a more traditional classic look. I'm actually going to finally do a metallic aged gold/bronze on the wall moulding and doing raised stencilling on the interior in a few rooms and ceilings which will suit the style of my home. This place is SCREAMING for more bling! The raised stencilling is a super cool idea for an accent wall and so easy to do... which I'm doing in my guest room right now and making it look very aged with glazes and waxes. If you are ever unsure, it's always recommended to do a sample board so you know how it will look or make adjustments, tinted glazes are always good if you want a wall to look aged. And don't shy away from metallics, they can really add some glamour to a room but just make sure you tone it down with an antique dark wax or dry brushing the metallics onto mouldings, so it doesn't look spray painted....speaking of which, DON'T EVER SPRAY PAINT ON METALLICS, that looks gross! haha There are tons of videos online to give some great ideas! Just had to add in my two scents. The mouldings look absolutely stunning and gives an Upper East Side high end NYC apartment vibe. Great work!

So helpful for beginners. Thank you for the detailed breakdown of steps and approach most other tutorials don’t do. I didn’t know about pin nailers vs brad!!! Now…any tips how to remove brad nails from the molding?
@Hanasdiyhome
@Hanasdiyhome 9 ай бұрын
Hi Joy! You’re welcome. If you mean that you made a mistake and the nail is stuck, you can usually use a pair of pliers and see if you can yank it out. If not, bend it back and forth and it should break off.

This is what I needed for a beginner like myself 🙌🏼 because I do not know how to use a miter saw 😬
@Hanasdiyhome
@Hanasdiyhome 9 ай бұрын
You can do this!! If it’s a small room, you can use a mitre box and hand saw. Or mitre shears

For the pin nailer how long was the length of the nail? I really want to replicate this project for my home but I am worried about hitting an electrical wire or pipes. I've never nailed/screwed anything in my wall for fear of damaging some important component. Did you have to use a stud finder berfore hand for this project?
@Hanasdiyhome
@Hanasdiyhome 10 ай бұрын
Hi! Use the shortest nail possible for the thickness of your trim. I use 1.5”. I don’t use a stud finder as it’s impossible to nail all the boards into a stud

Perfect! Thank you so much! Is there no risk of hitting a pipe or electrical wire with the 1.5" nailer? @@Hanasdiyhome

What do you do if the mouldings are slightly bent/warped?

I would return them if possible. If not, gently bend them and nail them in place but be careful they don’t snap

I agree. They def are. For reference my spacing is all 5” apart (from other trim, baseboard, crown etc). I have a worksheet on my blog that helps with the size of the boxes too

I’m willing to try this but miter saws range from $300 to 2000 what should I get?
@Hanasdiyhome
@Hanasdiyhome 7 ай бұрын
So this is a tricky question because you’ll wanna get one that flips the mitre on both right and left and they tend to be a bit more $$
