Save thousands by installing your own Mini Spilt heating and Air conditioner. I go through the complete install of a Ductlessaire 24k BTU
unit. Please note I am not a HVAC Pro and that some units require that a licensed pro is required to register for the warranty.
If you want to see what's included with the unit watch my unboxing video at • Ductlessaire 24k Mini ...
Note there are similar units by many companies that install similarly. Pioneer, Senville, Gree, Daiken, Cooper&Hunter, LG

Disconnecting the hoses before releasing the refrigerant introduces moisture back to the system pretty much your vacuum was lost you have to release refrigerant before you disconnect hose you have to have positive pressure so you don’t intrude moisture to system

Thank you for sharintg your video with us.I hate to knit-pick but there were several things you could have and should have done.The first thing is that after you cut the copper tubing down to the proper length you neglected to ream the copper tubing ends and opened yourself up to have a serious problem.The problem you opened yourself up to by not reaming the copper tubing ends is that when copper pipe/copper tubing is cut the cutting process tends to leave a burr inside the copper pipe/copper tubing and therefore copper pipe/copper tubing must always be reamed after being cut to get rid of any burrs that result from cutting the copper pipe/copper tubing.The second thing that you did wrong is that you installed the high pressure copper tubing first instead of installing the low pressure copper tubing first.I pained me to watch you torquing the flaring nut on the low pressure tubing with how much stress you had to put on the high pressure tubing just to tighten the flaring nut on the low pressure tubing.If you had bothered to ream the copper tubing after you cut the copper tubing before you flared the copper tubing and you had first installed the low pressure copper line you would not have needed to use any type of teflon tape or thread sealant like you had to do in the above video.I'm 63 years old now and I remember when I was much younger I worked with certified contractors and licensed plumbers and I learned the hard way that copper pipes and copper tubing must always be reamed (deburred) after being cut to size.Even PVC pipe must be reamed after being cut because if not the chances of clogs increases from waste catching on the burrs left inside the PVC pipe cuts.If you don't believe me the next time you cut copper pipe/copper tubing stick the tip of your finger into the copper pipe/copper tubing that you just cut and twist the tip of your finger inside of the copper pipe/copper tubing and get back to me to let me know if you don't cut the tip of your finger from that because you can and you will cut the tip of your finger if you stick it in a copper pipe/copper tubing that you cut and neglected to ream (deburr).I may not be the smartest man alive but what I was taught I learned well and when I didn't pay attention and tried to take shortcuts I paid dearly.

Thanks for the video. FYI they make a double flare kit. It mushrooms the end and then you flare it making the connection double thickness. I would recommend doing that if you can get the tool. Less chance of cracking. You asked about that caulk you are using that is sticky. It is petroleum based and you can use a rag/finger and mineral spirits as a lubricant for spreading or cleaning up the excess. it will not harm the remaining material. Just note this must be done when applied. After is sets, tough stuff.

In your video, you call the green wire running from the 220V disconnect to the outdoor unit “ground. But, I think that would be called “neutral” (normally white) on a 220V 10/3 line, right. At that means the outdoor unit is not earth grounded?

I extended an existing 220 circuit that I wasn't using any longer, which if I remember correctly was two hot legs and ground. The neutral wasn't used.

@whatsnextdiy
@whatsnextdiy 2 жыл бұрын
Actually, the one I used is rated at 60amp but it was what they had in stock at the store. It is just a standard non fused disconnect. The wiring size I used was based on a 20 amp breaker in the panel and the max load of the unit which is stated as 18amp. The wiring to the breaker is 12 gauge and I believe the whip from the disconnect to the unit was 10 gauge (again what was available at the store). The box I used for the feed to the disconnect was just a standard outdoor metal box. The biggest thing is to make sure your wire will handle the load of your circuit breaker and the load of the unit. The disconnect is merely there for safety while servicing the unit. Hope this helps.
