After installing the new filter, and before running the water, you need to press the reset button on the dashboard.

This video should explain that to remove the old filter you pull down on the old filter to separate it from the top and then it is much easier to turn because you can grip the filter

4 gallons does sound excessive, but since the filter is good up to 200 gallons, it's not that bad. I filtered 3 gallons and it was still a little cloudy. By the 4th gallon, it was clear. Just my personal experience...

I replaced the filter about 6 months and this video made me laugh because it says there may be some leaking from the old filter so have a towel ready - that was funny because mine sprays water all over by the bucket - I had to take almost everything out and soak the water up inside and on the floor. Have no idea how to cut the water flow to the unit but it’s ok, makes for a great opportunity to clean your refrigerator out and mop your floor.

Nearly IMPOSSIBLE to turn.
@dianap55043 жыл бұрын
Make sure you check out John Hanisch's comment above! He saved me from going insane trying to get the dang thing out. You have to pull it down (gently) to get it to easily turn. I used a flat head screwdriver to pry it down (again, be gentle and just pry it down a little), then I was able to easily turn it! The biggest pain was needing to run 4 gallons of water through it after it was installed.

The amount of water to flush seems a bit excessive. By the time you flushed four gallons before you can drink the water, you've used up a lot of the filter having you?
@barberfam631304 жыл бұрын
We need an answer to this. Four Gallons REALLY? Standing the frig door open that long is a waste of time and money. A filter should be working reliably sooner than that ?????
@SelfCareCharizard3 жыл бұрын
I'm no expert, but the Lowe's website says that the filter should be replaced after 200 gallons (which I guess they approximate to end up taking about 6 months for most folks).

you need at least 35 psi all the way to 120 psi, if you have a reverse osmosis filter before the fridge it wont be enough pressure.

I removed my filter before I had a replacement, got online, and ordered the filter from the manufacturer. they charge me for quick delivery, only to find out it will take as long as if I had just let them ship it normally. Then come to find out that the Home Deport store had them in stock. Dah... Now in following these guidelines, I have a small leak draining from the back of the housing hub. I drained a gallon worth and it did not stop. So, what is the solution? Oh, yea I had to shut down the water to remove it and reinstall it twice, still no luck.

My old filter was the fridge brand, now that I installed the everydrop filter, it makes a noise as the water filters. Anyone else have this?
@dmaerz2 жыл бұрын
I just replaced mine and it makes this horrible Jackhammer vibration noise now. This isn’t due to air as I flushed that out 2 weeks before this started happening, and it sounds way different.
@LadyPashta2 жыл бұрын
Everydrop is actually owned by Whirlpool. Are you installing it on a different fridge brand?
@dmaerz2 жыл бұрын
@@LadyPashta I had the same issue he is describing. I have a Jenn-Air and installed the recommended filter and after about two weeks it started making this extremely loud vibrating noise after a few seconds of dispensing water. I de aired it properly and everything on install and this started about two weeks in. Customer support suggested it may be a defective filter.

My problem is that I can't see why I need an expensive filter if I'm using city water that is treated. I am concerned though, about leaving an old filter installed as it could be actually getting my clean water dirty. I'd take it out but I suspect that would let water run inside the fridge. Anybody know the answer? I wouldn't trust the company to answer truthfully... they're just interested in selling filters.
@biologicalengineoflove68514 жыл бұрын
You don't. Tap water is fine (in most cities except maybe Flint MI), the fridge filter is just an extra bonus filter for your cooled water/ice that they include by default, but is also expensive. I don't think the next fridge I buy will run water for that reason, I'll just keep a Brita in there during the summer, and ice trays in the freezer. No more hassling with expensive fridge filters. EDIT: To be clear, I share your concern about old filters. I would guess you do need an expensive filter if you want to use the fridge water/ice, but only because they include it by default. And the necessity of having your city water filtered again before it becomes ice is arguable.
@gtown17423 жыл бұрын
City water contains lead,farm chemicals, medicine's, chlorine, mercury, fluoride, and bacteria that cannot be filtered at the treatment plants!!!! But the filter you have on your fridge will only filter a percentage of those contaminants out. A whole house filter and reverse osmosis system will prevent the rest from getting through. Then you can use the bypass cap and you don't need the filter!
@sheryllipton76112 жыл бұрын
I used to use a Brita water filter with my city water. It's the same concept. It will remove other contaminants. But it's up to you!

4 gallons of water we have to waste in order to check filter?!?????
@barberfam631304 жыл бұрын
Four gallons is a lot to run before using the water. Isn't the point of a filter to improve the water? Why would it need four full gallons to get "cleaner tasting water...." and "improve performance?" Seems very wasteful
